Are they updating it, or did they finally realize people would actually order
the pre-order anyway?

go to checkout and its says "Final Fantasy XIV - Collectors Edition." They are just in the middle of updating the page because im sure they have alrdy gotten a couple hundred pre-orders before having the pre-order page complete

They had a "collector's edition" picture up earlier when I ordered. I'm guessing Amazon saw the press release and rushed to get the info on there ASAP and now they're fine-tuning the page.

Nevermind, took a couple refreshes before it popped back up again, maybe
they're updating their servers, but I pre-ordered anyway, since I don't get
charged by Amazon until they ship (so sometime in Sept).

EDIT: Looks like gamestop took too long to get theirs up. And it says theirs "ships" on the 22nd, amazon guarantees mine will arrive on the 22nd,
or I get my $6 back ^^ I'm off that Wednesday anyway, and the official release date is on a Thursday a week later. I'll get 4 days off during
the 6 day pre-play time... Without having to take time off. Epic win!

When preorders are available everywhere later today I'm interested to know what the differences are between US/JP/EU versions. Differences in CE items and potential differences in the in-game items if there are any. So yeah...somebody post that later plz.

While it is a mess, its not completely unheard of. Personally, when i saw PS3 only people being invited into the soon to start PC Only Beta, I had a feeling that the PS3 version was much farther away than we expected it to be. When there were no PS3's playing the game at E3, this was yet another sign they were not close to solving the issues with the PS3 version. Let alone coming to a solution with Sony/PSN over how to solve the subscription model issues. (I am sure you will be able to pay for it through PSN's account system). What I am surprised about is that we won't see PS3 before Christmas.


What I am pissed about is the $3.00 per extra character bit. This is them just plain trying to more and more money out of us. $12.99 +1 per character would actually more likely to get more money overall as 1$ kind of gets shrugged off. Hell I have something like 7 mule characters on XI. If they were 3$ a pop ... OMG. This time around if we NEED mules just to have room for gear and such because we "are limited by the PS3" to 80 inventory slots it will just plain be crap. In the day and age where more and more people are enjoying playing multiple races and characters on other games its sickening to see them do something like this price point.

FFXI for the PS2 came out WAY before the PC...

they focused FFXI around the PS2 not the PC <insert PS2 limitations joke here>

This time around it was mentioned they are building FFXIV around the PC, I'm not surprised its a PC release first. (PS2 FFXI came out several MONTHS before the PC infact)

Uh yeah, doubt many of us did. Few unhelpful (and few helpful) GM's and thats it.

They can "fool" me again for all I care, lol.
