What I am pissed about is the $3.00 per extra character bit. This is them just plain trying to more and more money out of us. $12.99 +1 per character would actually more likely to get more money overall as 1$ kind of gets shrugged off. Hell I have something like 7 mule characters on XI. If they were 3$ a pop ... OMG. This time around if we NEED mules just to have room for gear and such because we "are limited by the PS3" to 80 inventory slots it will just plain be crap. In the day and age where more and more people are enjoying playing multiple races and characters on other games its sickening to see them do something like this price point.

for just storage its $1 rather than 3, you can use a second retainer for extra storage.

Its not in every bit of pasted info, but the retainers can be used for storage space. Every account gets one free retainer and you can get extras for €1.00 (probably $1.00 US). So if you only want storage space you get retainers. If for some reason you absolutely must play multiple races you pay the $3.00 for extra toon slots.

I think its a slap in the face to PS3 users for SE to delay the PS3 release to 2011. If anything, SE should push back the PC date and release both at the same time. Favoring those who either have a new PC or can afford to upgrade theirs over someone who has an older PC or just a PS3 is a stupid decision on their part.

And incase anyone asks, I am saying this from the perspective of someone who will be playing FFXIV on PC.

I ask because I had to import the NA version of ffxi because it came out here long before it did in Europe and because I remember ages ago reading something about separate servers. It's being released in NA, EU and JP at the same date so you don't have to worry.

edit: The servers will be mixed like in FFXI.

FFXI for the PS2 came out WAY before the PC...

they focused FFXI around the PS2 not the PC <insert PS2 limitations joke here>

This time around it was mentioned they are building FFXIV around the PC, I'm not surprised its a PC release first. (PS2 FFXI came out several MONTHS before the PC infact)

It's actually a smart decision on their part, business wise especially. I don't know why anybody would think there was going to by a simultaneous release. I knew there was going to be a gap as soon as I saw that there was a gap in signing up for beta pc vs beta ps3.

I'll most likely be preording this at gamestop through a friend as soon as I get enough money. (Boo for being poor.)

Hot. Just pre-ordered the Collectors edition on Amazon. The security token + 30 day free alone makes up for the 25 dollar difference between the two sets. Playing early + all the other limited edition stuff is just icing on the cake. I am disappointed in the lack of PS3 version at the start, but I'll deal with it. Thankfully most my in game friends have a PC readily available that can play this. With the release date coming so soon we should also be getting a deluge of information on the other starting locations soon :O.

I am also a bit disappointed in the alts costing money. I was ok with paying $1 for each alt for FFXI but I'm not ok with paying $3... I really hope we can name our retrainers and make it like a visual alt that you use for storage/selling. I am happy for 12.99 a month though, if I don't do any alts or extra retainers then the game will cost me significantly less a year then most MMORPGs do.
