FINAL FANTASY XIV for PC Confirmed for 30th SEPTEMBER 2010 Release

I can't believe just over a year ago we were all speculating over this game, knowing absolutely nothing. It's weird to think that there will be major reviews out (not that I'm worried, I think this game will score tremendously) in just a few months.

So do you think you get both items if you preorder collector? Because to be honest, the googles seem like the better fluff instead of the Onion helm. But both say available with respective preorders.

I too am upset that they basically made FFXIv2, but FFXI scored well and this appears to have more casual friendly play, basically the main criticism FFXI received.

If you look at what it actually says, it says "Collectors Edition Preorder Item" and "Regular Edition Preorder Item". I think people are just assuming you get both.

Well I would never say completely different, as the overall feel of the game is quite similar with XI.. but ya, it was sarcasm.

If I had to make a lame uninformed comparison, I'd say it's like Dynamis vs Salvage.. kinda?

Well of course. But the overall feel of Super Mario Sunshine is rather similar to Super Mario 64. The overall feel of Final Fantasy # is similar to the overall feel of Final Fantasy #+1.

I don't want to start an argument, but what I see is a more polished version of FFXI. They kept the same races for christs sake. Would I have liked a completely new experience? Yes, but this works also, and I am beyond excited.

Somebody made a good point on another forum that shall not be named:

"It will be IMPOSSIBLE to have both in game items on the first character you make. The official site says the code from the game will need to be linked to the SE account before character creation. You wouldn't get the goggle code until the 30th, so you'd need to make a new character or delete the old one to have both items."

Lose a full week's worth of progress to get an item that helps you level faster later on? So if we wanted to preorder both the standard and collector's editions the goggles would indeed do nothing. :/

That is only true if you ordered both editions to get both items. If (as people think) you get both items as part of the CE, then its not impossible at all.

You will only be able to wear one at a time though AFAIK, since both would take up the head slot.
