Because it's not necessary to own the CE. Hence the name, no? If you don't want to pay for the extra products they give with it then you don't have to.

If FF14 is anything like FF11 you have to remember that US expansions won't install on EU clients and vice versa.

To note, i was charged roughly $12 a month in FFXI, but everytime i was charged i would get a £1 overseas charge fee from my bank. Toss in all the imported expansions/regionalised crap and importing from another region isn't worth it.

I wouldn't really mind ordering my expansions abroad though, worked fine with XI. I'm just not sure if they take the fee based on the account in question or where the cc holder lives instead. I remember that at some point they started charging me for the right amount (12,95€), without me changing any of my info iirc.

exactly, I doubt many people will be worried paying $25 extra to get to play 8 days early, I know I sure as hell won't.

I wonder if they plan to sell the game over steam.

It does, i'm paying $12,95+$1(mule) or whatever it is instead of 12,95€+1€ for EU account. Havn't updated paying method since EU release though.
It realy sucks that SE lets EU ppl pay more so obviously :/ still pre-ordering CE though.

That just makes no sense. Why have different items for the CE?

Unless...... the goggles only work for 8 days once you equip them, and are designed to help people make up the 8 day difference, but CE people will still be the only ones with the helm?

The goggles may indeed make up for the 8 days difference. They may also have a rank cap on how far the skill bonus lasts. They could also change their minds and give them to everyone who pre-ordered. With Square Enix, there's no telling.

Either way, who doesn't want a Right of Passage certificate?! Totally worth it.
