FINAL FANTASY XIV for PC Confirmed for 30th SEPTEMBER 2010 Release

Shitty Ireland, not sure where to preorder here as the biggest place is Game, but doesn't even have a proper national site, just the UK one.

Went to Game today to preorder it:
Guy: (Checks book) "No it's been pushed back to next year"
Me: "No it's September 30th, it was just announced yesterday"
Guy: (Checks book again) "Nope it's to be confirmed. It's been pushed back to next year"
I left it at that just in case it had been pushed back since I was on last night.

Sure I only discovered today Gamestop has a website for here, which isn't helpful as it's just a list of games and deals.

Game.co.uk has 3-5 day shipping to here so goodbye to at least half the early access that way. Amazon.co.uk is even worse saying CE is in stock on October 1st

edit: Guy at gamestop was shocked to see PC version being released in September. He told me he thought it was still due in December ^^;

I called gamestop in the states and they confirmed that it is Sept. 22. for special edition to allow for early access. At first, he was giving me the PS3 release date (March 2011) But I asked for the PC edition and he was surprised that it was a different date (he gave me the "usually between systems the release date is the same" type crap)

But the SE FFXIV is going to be released on Sept 22, unless it will be pushed back, but I doubt it as the FFXIV beta client is going to be ready for download tomorrow, giving 3 months for beta testing which seems like a plenty amount of time seeing as how much us NA people give feedback lmao

Hmm thanks for advice, perhaps I should have said PC version! Will try again next time I'm there anyway! If all else fails I suppose 3-5 days isn't too bad.

um, i didn't read through this entire thread so it might have been mentioned, but a friend who works at gamestop there said that pretty much all games are delivered a couple days before launch day. so if you haven't ordered online yet and wanna be able to physically pick it up on the 22nd, gamestop should work for you.

The guy on the phone said they would have them exactly on the 22nd as soon as they opened. I worked retail and that was the same situation for the store I worked at. Sometimes we got the games 2-3 weeks beforehand! Altho with the popular games such as CODMW2 and some Zelda games we didn't get them until a few hours after open on the day of release via fedex... So it really depends on how fast SE ships out.

I just registered my code last night, bought FF13 when it was released. It gave me my FF14 promotional code no problem.

Going to +1 that question, I see a lot of brand new/sealed FF13 on ebay for cheap and wondering if I can buy one.

Wait I thought the PS3 FF13 has a beta code for FF14, not some code for an in-game FF14 item? And FF14 will have the code for the in-game FF13 item.. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: Just searched around a little.. apparently there is also some FF14 item. Any idea what it is? So I've got an onion helm, some goggles, AND something else to be sure to get?

$50 for the game? Isn't that a bit expensive?
I don't remember how much ff14 cost when it 1st came out for pc.

I have no idea how the NA versions did it other than what I read on the product registration page (here), which states that the registration code card itself is different from the average registration code card:

Copies of FINAL FANTASY XIII from its initial production run contain a unique product registration card.

How the card actually looks though, I have no idea, and couldn't find an image of one.

For the JP version, each early production copy had a sticker on the plastic wrapping, so it was immediately obvious if it was or wasn't (This was how my code looked. Yes the photo is washed out, the point is how the card looks).

Edit: Look what I found rummaging for my FFXIII box! It's so old D:

I'm not too fond of these 30-something douchebags working in a place they barely know or even care about.

I had this problem when I called in about it. When I went to the store after an errand, I had the clerk check specifically for PC platform, and he found the entry.

CE is also a $10 minimum placeholder, over the usual $5, would be another way to be sure which version you're getting.

but I think / thought 11 was $50-60

Gamestop is like the Final Fantasy XI Brady Guide of Game Retailing. Ordered my CE on Amazon and awaiting the day. I also ordered this little hidden easter egg:
