Free shipping pretty much sealed me going with the CE. Not wild about the extra cost for a DVD I'll probably never watch, a token I don't need (though may give to a friend if she plays), but I might like the artbook. Headstart never hurts even though I do expect some congestion issues.

Ordered a number of things through GS in the past and have had no problem. Locally, they were the only gaming shop for a good while until an EB popped up shortly before GS bought them out. I'll admit I tried to get a job there when I was younger, but it seemed like my love for gaming wasn't enough to compensate for lack of enthusiasm in pimping magazines and warranties. Which is kinda funny since I had repeat customers come back to me when I was at Kmart's electronics department just because I actually took the time to talk about games to them, either for their own curiosity or their kids' sake and hold things for a bit if they did call looking for something in particular.

Honestly, only problem I ever had was with an order, I think, was ToAU getting delayed by that random hurricane or whatever. Might've been CoP, though. Been too long.

Only the first wave had the code in it. Anything you buy now won't have it.

I just pre-ordered the collector's edition from Game.co.uk. Thanks to the guy who posted the link some pages back, definitely the cheapest UK deal I've seen.

I went through Quidco (reputable cash back site) and got it for the equivalent of £37.19 when they pay me the 7%.

For anyone who is a) Canadian and b) curious about pre-order status from the GS brick and mortar stores:

I just placed my preorder this morning, so it should be in their systems today.

Asked about the possibility of a Midnight Release, and they said they'll probably decide that a day or two before launch and to call back and check.

Receipt lists it as: 7007610 FF XIV CE PC.

I placed my CE pre-order from GS, scheduled to take a few days off of work. And even if there is a midnight release I don't think I'll go. I don't remember any MMO launching w/o having problems the first day.

Day 1 is usually install, update, wait for it....... GO (nowhere). Check website for news, rebooting servers, come back in 2 hours, horrible lag or wait times. And some point that night or even the next morning is when you can actually enjoy your time in game. So yeah, i'll schedule time off of work, but no midnight lines for moi.

That's why I'm working from home the day it comes out, rather than just taking the day off. Walmart will likely have tons of copies at midnight if you really wanted it.

Saw the release date and bailed out of thread for the most part. Just noticed today on the website that the goggles/helmet appear to be separated between the standard/CE orders. This makes me sad panda QQ.

goggles will probably be better than helmet anyway, but helmet looks cooler. i'll probably get the normal edition over the CE just because the price for the CE doesnt make any sense and one week bonus play time over other players probably wont be beneficial.

Still no Dutch site/store has it. I called and mailed different stores and all tell me to wait. I am afraid it will be sold out before I can get my pre-order in.

Good luck getting it at walmart at midnight, there's nobody in electronics until 7am unless they're doing a shitty Twilight midnight release.

I think that largely depends on if the goggles have a cap at which they stop helping. Weakened in XIV is a headache, and if that keeps then I think I'd prefer the hat more. Regardless I just wanted both to wear around at the same time :/. Could always make 1 SE ID with my fiancee I suppose and one of us gets CE, the other gets standard.

Yeah but if goggles increase the speed of progression, any benefit would probably outweigh or balance out the effect of the helmet.

get skill -> die -> get more skill quicker, catch up

get skill slower -> die -> be able to get back to skilling slowly

Ideally, I'd like to have both items because it would be the best of both worlds but right now it seems like six of one half dozen of the other. For $25-30 less, standard seems the way to go.

i dont think 1 day is gonna matter since you wont be able to play right away anyway if you get it on midnight.
