Aww EU don't get the journal/artbook, that makes me a bit sad.
I'm kind of hoping that SE have allocated the CE so there will be little to no server lag on day 1... I know who am I kidding
Will probably be the complete oppisite.
I will be like all new MMO post WOW - packed, laggy servers first month, "empty" servers after that.![]()
n ah, the JP are really looking forward to this game and they don't particularly like WoW much at all. I don't think the NA will make a terrible impact if they all leave for WoW anyway. Remember who's game it is in the first place... Westerners are familiar with blizzard because they are western themselves, a Japanese based game is obviously going to be more popular in japan than anywhere else. What WoW did right is whip everything from past games and stick them in an MMO, just what the people ordered. It seems that people who are trying to break away from the norm get hate from it, which is completely devastating to the gaming world.
/end off topic
Continuing this tangent, does anyone know how the auto-translate system is going to work? I assume it hasn't been implemented because the servers have still been separate. I'm assuming with all regions starting at the same time, we're going to have a lot more interaction with the JP players from the start.
They didn't say much about it yet. It will be there, supposedly updated and more functional than in XI.
Most def really hope they will have an auto translate. My Japanese is very limited and when I talk I get a response back I don't always understand, so hopefully the auto translate will be more efficient in conveying what I have to say and it is easier and allows for them to be more encouraged to use it also.
This is probably the biggest worldwide release of an MMO in a while. I can't think of any other cross-platform cross-world MMO being released aside from FFXI, especially around the same time. I'm pretty sure that WoW has been released in other parts of the world but have regional servers and weren't released in the same year, and I can't think of anything else. So it truly is going to be a fantastic record breaking release.
You're giving it too much credit imo. And there was stuff like WHO or Aion, which failed in the long run, but still had quite big releases.
T minus less than 90 days
Which aren't/weren't cross platform with universal servers or released at the same time worldwide..FFXI is still the only one in terms of cross platform release where everyone can play with each other.
So actually FFXIV is one of the biggest releases in awhile (different from being the most hyped release, which is what WAR/AION/etc was) thats worldwide.
to be a bit anal, FFVXI is also not cross-platform this year.
My previous post is based on experience with almost all MMO launches in last few years. There always has been huge group of players who buy a game just to check it out. This causes post launch problems with overcrowded servers. Aion was nice example. And this group is not really dedicated to particular game, so when they disappear before free month runs out, you see sharp decline is server pop. This also creates kind of snownall effect. And also bad reputation - olol 50% gone, game iz phail.
tl;dr
few years ago - slow/moderate increase of playerbase, then stable
now - every lauch is like a supernova explosion - crowds jump in on launch only to jump out in weeks/months
SO yea, I expect FF launch in 90 days to be like this. I want to be proven wrong by SE tho.
So Crysta Currency is available in Japan only? I'd rather not go through the bullshit with my credit card again, but it looks like I'll have to. Why can't there be game cards and shit to pay this off?Monthly Fee: 1280 yen (approx. $13-$14)/30 days (1344 w/ tax)
(first character free for 30 days upon activation)
Retainers: First one is free with each additional one costing 100 yen (105 w/ tax). Additional player characters cost 300 yen (315 w/ tax) apiece every 30 days. Maximum of 8 characters.
Fees are payable by both Crysta currency and credit card.
I was more talking general year, meaning within 365 days of eachother. Yeah Aion is available in other places etc but I was talking more specifically actually having play together and I am not talking about region free F2P games either lol. I am not giving SE too much credit because you know I actually think they deserve it, they bring us our favorite games, and if you can't agree with me I don't think you should be browsing this forum...
Huh, how is that to the point? I just commented on how I don't believe it will be as big as you think. The general public is not really hyped for next "FF mmo" after XI. And that's my opinion based on what I hear from other people and read all over the internet. That's all. Aren't you acting a little too much like an "S-E warrior" now?![]()
I am hoping there will be PS3 complications and they will need to put PC and PS3 users on seperate servers.
I have never seen the big deal with the multiplatform/multiculture aspect of FF11.
SxEna, warrior princess, that's all.
