i think my hair and facial hair is like 16-17.. i normally just give him the 20.
5 minutes for a fade is ridonkulous. Shit takes 30-45 minutes at my place, lol.
Shameless plug.
I tip myself a high five because I have one of these:

Get a haircut at a friends house. She has people come to her house to get it cut. Costs me about $15~ but I don't have to tip and it's always a good haircut. Plus I know the people so it all works out.
Haircut for me is $20 I always just give $25
wow, never realized how cheap i was getting my haircuts, place down here has a guy that has a barbershop who does it for $5 on certain days of the week. never really thought of tipping either, but since it's an independent shop and the money all goes to him anyways not sure if it matters
Pay $15, tip $5.
£150
Tip £20
$15 cut, give a $20 and get no change
I let them keep the change on increments of 5. If it's 16, you get 20. If it's 14 you get 15.
At a bar you should give a large tip up-front then small tips per drink. It's pretty much the only situation where tipping actually gets you better/faster service and isn't just an expected gratuity.
When I use to get a fade and kept my hair cut, I paid $12 and tipped the rest of the 20, girl who cut my hair is one of my good friends. For the past few years, i shave my head myself and it is essentialy for free.
On the topic of being a waiter, I used to be a waiter in Charlotte at a bar when I was in HS in my senoir year (knew the manager), I took home at least 900 bucks every weekend. I was killin it, I thought it was pretty easy money and I normally went home shit faced.
Pay $24,000
Tip: $6,000

For the past 5 years or so I've lucked out and gotten an employee discount, I usually work at one of the more upscale salons pending where I'm living at the time. I try to give a 15-20% tip off the original price, and a few dollars to the hairdresser's assistant (they do the wash and sometimes a blowdry/style pending on how busy the stylist is). It depends on who I see and whether or not I get color too. Sometimes I've had a haircut in the $75-80 range alone. The price is usually a lot higher the more experienced/in demand a stylist is.
