But the city itself is white with water around it and talk about boats all the time.
Who cares if people planted seeds around Bastok?
Limsa Lominsa
Gridania
Ul'dah

Wherever Wildwood Elezen are from
By that logic, who cares if people cut down some trees around Sandy.
Ul'dah, i can spell it without thinking to hard.
Bastok was barely a port, the harbor was only really used for the airship. Hell, Windurst had actual boats. Bastok was always about the mines, shitty government, semi-high technology, and racial conflict in the middle of a wasteland. Ul'Dah is shaping up to have most of that, so comparing it to Bastok makes the most sense. In terms of looks, the massive fortifications match the wall of mountains surrounding Bastok, where as LL more stylistically resembles Jeuno. In terms of overall theme, LL matches Sandy more, due to the rival militia factions (it mirrors the Royal/Temple guard dynamic, though with much more vitrol...so far, anyway).
I'm definitely starting in new Bastok if only because it will most likely have the Pugilist guild there; the flavor text has been very clear that there's going to be an arena. Also, there's just something cool about wandering a desert.
Ul'dah
because I prefer the desert type areas and that whole arabian nights theme. Other than a desert it doesnt sound anything like Bastok to me. Its described as extravagant. Its sorta like comparing Dubai (Ul'Dah) to Palestine (Bastok) x_x.
Also, the concept art actually makes it look like a metropolis. Limsa Lominsa seems... small?
Oh, and the Thaurmaturge guild is there too so....![]()
bastok v2
I'm guessing there has only been concept art for the other 2 city so far?
Gridania looks cool though.
This thread is retarded we don't have enough info to make a judgement.
Windurst HD all the way ..
Gridania was in the E3 trailer btw, the bit with the waterwheel.
Yeah the giant waterwheel appears from Gridania indeed. I have chosen it as my starting home, chose it a while ago actually.
I picked the one thats green and lush like windurst.
Planning on Gridania I think, but I really love the pirate NPC dialog in LL...
It's funny how I remember a lot of people avoiding Windurst because of it's woody ways back in early FFXI.
Now everyone wants in!
I'm going for LL or Ul'dah.
But to me, Ul'dah is San d'Oria and I can't really see myself live in Sandy's spiritual successor. Can't wait to have more than artwork to decide with.
Do we know anything about the guilds/fishing from the alpha? I haven't been following that information.
I want to fish a lot in 14, if it ends up being like it was in ffxi at all.
Do we know how important it would be to be near the fishing guild? Or is that sort of stuff still just speculation? And do we know where the guild was? Was it in limsa?
As far as just lumping the cities as windy/sandy/bastok 2.0, I don't think that's fair. And you might do yourself a disservice by picking one solely looking at it that way.
The place with the most poofters
I kind of want to start out fishing this time around. Assuming it is going to be similar to XI, I always found fishing when I was burnt out on everything else relaxing and a nice break and I'll go wherever the guild is. Limsa Lomisa is the obvious choice, but I'm hoping one of the other cities will house a fishing guild as well.
There will no doubt be water in every city.
THEY WOULDN'T DARE MESS UP MY FISHIN'!
