You expect repercussions from who...... that's right.... the fucking police.also, of course I've sped, but like I said, I expect to face repercussions if I'm caught.
Do you expect your job to shit can you because you got a parking ticket?
I expect repercussions if I'm caught smoking pot by the police. It's there job to do that. I do not expect to face said repercussions from my place of employment if it does not directly involve my work day in any way.
I can understand credit checks for a job with sensitive information, since you'd probably blab secrets if presented with a good enough cash amount. But for a majority of jobs it doesn't make much sense.
The logic of hindering people who have bad credit from getting a job boggles the mind. Talk about keep the poor poor. Also, employers checking your credit score lowers your score, the simple act of just finding out what your score is lowers your score, what kind of BS is that?! The banking reform bill that was passed recently finally grants people free credit score from credit bureaus and hopefully that will counteract some of the stupid in system.
Before anyone says that people who have bad credit deserve it, hear me out. A friend in college got a flu and had no insurance, guess what, he went to ER and a nurse gave him some IV and the hospital charged him more than $5000. 1 bag of salt water. He wasn't from a privileged family so it took him a long time to pay that off. Medical bills can seriously jeopardize your credit score.
This comment is so full of ignorance, it boggles my mind. Insurance costs MONEY. In fact, private insurance can cost anywhere from 500-1k PER MONTH. How the fuck do you expect a college student to afford that kind of dough for insurance?
There is no such thing as "affordable" insurance, unless you work for someone who provides it or you're with some kind of group plan, or happen to be in the military.
I guess you ARE Stumblingdrunk. Go use your insurance plan to get detox treatment, please.
Or you can leech off your parents insurance until 26, provided your parents have insurance.
Your credit score is representative of your ability to meet your financial obligations in a timely manner. It is a perfectly reasonable method to infer one's ability to handle obligations in general, especially in this economy where firms are using any universal standard to judge a broad array of candidates. Credit scores can be impacted by myriad unreasonable issues, that is true, but you don't get a 400 score from the system fucking you; you get it because you fucked yourself. You also don't lose a Circuit City job because your FICO score is a 720 vs. a 750. Stupid thread is stupid.
Listen up buddy, something being inconvenient and or difficult is not the same as something being impossible. Going without insurance is a decision people make, there are plenty of options out there and in some states if you truly are incapable of affording it there are government programs that will cover your medical bills. You mentioned 3 separate ways to get insurance in your own post. Get off your ass and pick one. Starbucks doesn't do a credit check when they hire people and last i checked they did offer insurance. Shouldn't have gotten the flu in a war zone.
I hope he was trollin. I didn't have insurance for the past year, I just was able to get back onto my parents insurance. If I got sick or needed surgery for kidney stones while I didn't have insurance... I pretty much had planned to die, because I saw how much my surgeries were last time and I don't have that kind of money (50k+ each time)
Sometimes even if you have insurance, they're quick to deny you for treatments or drop you from coverage.
lol ^ Are you serious.
Ever heard of Pre Existing Conditions? What do you think the whole point of all this healthcare reform bullshit was about?
Health Care and Pre-existing conditions
What Lala land do you live in?Thousands of Americans also lose health insurance each year through a practice called rescission.
When a person is diagnosed with an expensive condition such as cancer, some insurance companies review his/her initial health status questionnaire. In most states’ individual insurance market, insurance companies can retroactively cancel the entire policy if any condition was missed – even if the medical condition is unrelated, and even if the person was not aware of the condition at the time. Coverage can also be revoked for all members of a family, even if only one family member failed to disclose a medical condition.10
A recent Congressional investigation into this practice found nearly 20,000 rescissions from three large insurers over five years, saving them $300 million in medical claims – $300 million that instead had to come out of the pockets of people who thought they were insured, or became bad debt for health care providers.
At least one insurance company has been found to evaluate employee performance based in part on the amount of money an employee saved the company through rescissions.12 Simply put, these insurance company employees are encouraged to revoke sick people’s health coverage.
If you coughed funny 10 years ago and didn't put it on your form and they find out, they could cancel you.
i do not joke about the righteousness inherent to capitalism good sir
Good work stumbles.
You're right. Where would we be if people ever stood up for what they believed in? Whenever laws are written, and regulations are enforced, everyone should accept these restrictions and their consequences, and never dare to defy them. If they do otherwise, they're enforcing their personal opinion, and this is unacceptable. There is no reason to apply supposedly logical conclusions come to via scientific evidence when you've already been told that your "cause" is wrong.
Can you imagine where society would be today if people were allowed to battle laws they perceived as unjust? What if they could put their opinions to a vote on ballots? What if they, by that and other means, tried to change the restrictions imposed by the people who righteously lead them? And if empowered by the possibility of making a difference, what if they rebelled in every way possible, hoping to make a statement wherever they could?
That would, clearly, be a terrible society to live in. You should not think when the thinking has been done for you. It's best to be seen and not heard.
Also, you're a pussy.
It all makes about as much sense to me as companies refusing to hire people who have been unemployed for any period of time. For some it's a choice, sure, but for a lot of folks, they can't help they got fired due to downsizing, lacking seniority, and/or lack of other quality work in the area.
As bad as it is you have to try and put yourself in their shoes, I know that it doesn't seem fair to use this as a way to determine a persons responsibility but people cant read minds, people cant latch onto your head and tell what kind of person you really are, I know that bad credit scores doesn't mean bad people but there aren't many ways of measuring up a potential hire while being totally "fair" without spending large amounts of time, money or both.
