Whoever said Khalamari was an easy duo was lying. Shadow tanking it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't double attack every other melee round. Also, I just died on SAM/NIN from a Mantle Pierce with two shadows up that did 1776 damage. I'd venture to guess that it can double attack too.

Its not a hard duo, but mantle pierce has broken 1.2k with rabbit pie/shell4 and -15% PDT, it has hit as high as 1.7k with rabbit pie, no shadows and no PDT.

You must have gotten pretty lucky in your attempts and/or gotten easier pops. My experience is the same as Shadida's and Fortitti's. My SAM is geared well, although I did not have an evasion set I did have an oshi set. Mantle Pierce one-shot me multiple times with Rabbit Pie and oshi- gear. Same with Carbonara. I never got hit outside Mantle Pierce in most of my attempts since he's a joke to shadow tank with a BRD.

That said, I did beat it yesterday and got the helm but I needed to get help from a WAR/NIN to secure hate if I died from Mantle Pierce(and I did). Gogo Kaiten pillaging helm.

It's a multi-hit TP move. Evasion set makes a huge difference, I rarely used my PDT set at all. Neither of the Pierces I ate in either fight were taken in PDT gear.

Id strongly suggest the eva+15 or whatever while blind earrings for khalamari, guy has enblind attack and a blind tp move he uses frequiently, I dont remember if you can use 2 of the earrings but even 15 eva helps a tonne.

Just tried trioing him with rdm dnc dnc, was easy but slow, got it down to 70% before the red mage timed out and left us hanging, we lasted about a minute without the support >.<

One of the easier NMs Id say, if you bring in an alliance he should go down really fast. Very susceptible to stun so if you threw enough drks and dncs and rdm/drks at it you could just keep it perma stunned while dds tore it to pieces.

I got the !!'s to appear on Khalamari a few times last night using Gekko. Sometimes they were green sometimes they were blue. My first 5-6 Gekkos gave the !! each time, but after that it stopped. Ended up dying to Mantle Pierce. We came back about 45min later and killed, but I was on NIN this time and didn't get the !! to appear.

Only Gekko gave the !! when I was on SAM and since they didnt appear everytime I used it, I thought maybe it was the silence add effect from Gekko that was causing it. My RDM casted (and landed) Silence but no !! appeared.

Dualboxed RDM + MNK earlier today, not too smooth(took 3 tries). Essentially perfect MND gear, completely perfect eva gear on MNK, etc, shadows not an issue to keep up but you will get hit by mantle pierces without a stunner. With carbonara, hp boost thing, and -30% PDT, I still got one shotted outright from full HP(2100) twice. Helm dropped though, booya.

Today I went to check on Khalamari for a friend and found another friend fighting it already. I joined in and this happened:

So whoever guessed about that Atma was right. None of us had Lunar Abyssite to see what it does though.

Edit: I only just now noticed that Khalamari has en-Blind.

we usualy start with sekkanoki darkness and magic burst blind slow bio . +72mnd para 2 also .
rest of it is rather smooth . rabit pie and pdt makes mantle pierce manageable .
never did more then 1200 on a galka sam ( 1980hp 472 def -27% dmg taken for that move ) +78 eva while tping.


has anyone even see the dnc neck drop of it ?

How you macro in like +380 hp with 27% pdt? (Galka with hp merits sam/nin will have base of about 1600). What the point to macro in hp + instead of more eva,pdt ( unless your healers are that fast that they heal you after you switch and before tp move is finish XD ). another thing, wouldnt it be worth to actually macro in earth staff? That would make that move probably easily manageable for all races ( maybe not taru, LolTaruSAM anyway :D ). Last thing, thats sound like a perfect situacion for 5/5 mantra! ohwait... now when i think about this there is max hp+ boost for cruor and thats probably how you got that much HP? Yeah now half of this post have no sense but i'm to lazy to write it again XD

The "!!" seems to radically increase drop rate but you can get the drops without them, just more rare.

He means engage the target, unlock from target and run backwards so shield/parrying can still proc.

And yes, you can.
