Has anyone managed to low-man Balaur with any success?

MNK/NIN(me) BRD/WHM(me dboxing) and a RDM/WHM was the setup 2nd time we killed this NM. He had shock spikes up early on in the fight that was doing 300-400 damage and causing a lot of stuns. There was no way for me to melee it. So I pulled a NQ Wyvern to TP on and WS on Baulur.

I'm not sure what triggers the spikes, he randomly put up spikes anywhere from 100-25%hp. I started coming as SAM/NIN after that, because its easier for me to just back tank while waiting for meditate.

Except I didn't ask anything about the Avatars or the their possible connection to the 3 NMs. I specifically asked about testing dragging a treant NM under Turul since a poster mentioned the mythology directly ties Turul to a tree.

Instead of raging about a hypothesis that you yourself have not disproved perhaps you'd learn to read instead of writing off theories that are grounded in sense. Fistule and Guimauve are connected to eachother so it isn't a huge fucking logical leap to assume that you need one NM (Gean or Siranpa) in order to agro another.

The "Turul" is a giant mythical falcon, a messenger of god in Hungarian mythology, who sits on top of the tree of life along with the other spirits of unborn children in the form birds.

There are two Treant NMs in the zone so unless you happen to test both and both fail to agro the NM then the above guess is ahead of the Pavan connection which has not agrroed the Amphiptere.

You haven't disproved anything and your comment about the Bugards still puts Turul close to Siranpa-Kamuy.

tl;dr - Disprove the theory or GTFO.

It doesn't relate to a tree in every myth, that's my point. In fact, in most Turul sits on a stone or cliff rather than a tree. That made me change my mind completely after thinking the tree would be a really good idea. Either way, have fun testing it.

Can people stop posting all this bullshit. Go out and test whatever you want then report it. Don't keep filling up this thread with I think you should drag this sheep or ram or tree or do the hokey pokey under it to get it agro. Test whatever you want then post I did blah blah blah and it didn't work. Throwing out BS theorys that you want other people to waste their time on or argue over is BS.

I am happy to read a post of "did the hokey pokey under it and it didn't agro." "I died and HPed under it and my LS said it didn't agro." Just tired of reading jailer weapons, ebony panels, ect.

Agree entirely, except this is worse than ebon panels. At least with AV crazy theories it was people with no real means to test it posting. The most complex posts here can be done with 6 or less, so go test it yourself...

Dragging Pavan under Turul doesn't work, killing it under Turul doesn't work, Pavan being killed with all kinds of status effects on right under Turul doesn't work, all tested by a few friends and myself. Going to try doing some stuff with more than one Pavan some time.

Uninstalling FFXI after getting the killshot on Pavan seems to do the trick, Turul popped right after I tried it

I even am getting kind of tired watching some idiot rdm with no gear changes, in crap gear, 'boring a mob to death' with Bio around a rock for an hour or two and in some cases only timing out and get pissed at you because you "Stole their mob". Listen turbo, it ain't "stealing" when you're kicked the fuck out.

These "Solo Rdms" are getting just as bad as fucktards that wear inappropriate gear/subs and toss bullshit at you like "Hey, it's my $12.99". Wake up and smell the coffee; you're soloing it because you either have no friends to help you, or you don't have any sense of community and don't want to feel obligated to those who help you. You're not "doing it for the challenge" when you keep doing it...

Go ahead and solo it if you know you can do so in a reasonable amount of time, but know your limits...

I think the spikes are related to which breath he uses, but I've only fought it once so I can't say for certain.

Each breath gives him a different effect until the next one is used. It's not always spikes, I know one of them is a powerful En- effect. I only fought it a couple times and didn't note down the specifics but it's definitely related to his breath moves.

Also got at least 10 abyssites off Cryptonberries and i can confirm that Leije is indeed lotto spawn off them. Killed him 3 times and got 3 mantles but no key item.

I can also confirm that outside ton hate carries inside. The first grudge i got hit by in the first 5mins did 1200 dmg to me. Was doing 3k at the end of the run, was awesome. Great exp area btw just not for the weak.

So now anyone who prefers to not sacrifice a DD every 3rd fight is weak? A good 8-10 person group gets 3 kills/minute at standard camp.. that'd get your grudge damage over 2k in just over 2 hours. I can't see any way for that to beat out a standard camp..
