What mobs did you do in Tahrongi? Coeurls?
What mobs did you do in Tahrongi? Coeurls?
Would you be willing to provide some details on your farming session? Like how was your alliance built, what mobs did you build light on, what mobs dropped the most giant gold boxes, etc.? My LS's first popper farming run is tomorrow and I'd like to make it as successful as possible. Thank you!
One member has viridian abyssite of destiny (since we aren't sure how these abyssites actually work, gonna add here that he was on WAR and was trying to get kill shots once we started the mega box farming.)
We started off on mandies to build pearlescent light and azure light. We build about 20 pearlescent before switching to azure. Once we start azure, we build those until we consistently get top tier blue boxes (6 correct guesses). The only reasons you may not get them consistently are if you have a BLM come late that ends up getting some killshots or if a BLM d/c's every 5min and misses some of the lights (my ISP sucks lately). We originally planned to stay on the mandies to build amber lights since people said they don't give ruby, but we couldn't get amber here either.
This is where tahrongi got annoying. We spent about 2hrs moving from family to family trying to find one that gave amber. Mandies, Coeurls, Cockatrice, Scorpion, Cointeachs, and Gnats all do NOT give amber light. If any of those do, it is really rare. We spent atleast 10-15min at each family repeatedly trying magic ws kills. The first and only mobs that gave us amber were the mini turtles. Once we started farming there, we didn't leave to try others.
We killed turtles with magic ws until we got our first mega chest, and then killed between 5-10 for more amber to be safe. We ported back to the blood bats (mandies were taken) and killed those as fast as possible since killshots wouldn't matter anymore. We got tons of TE and mega golds here. If we didn't spend those 2hrs searching for amber, we would have gotten those 19 key items in about 4hrs.
The key to our success with these farming runs seems to be to completely ignore ruby light. If you can find a family that you can WS kill and not get ruby light, plan to use those to farm chests once you cap pearl/azure/amber. You even want to ignore red chests with ruby light inside. If you are doing a exp/farm run as a LS event, your goal is probably to get key items. The less ruby light you have built up, the less red boxes you will see. Less red = more blue/gold for TE and megas.
tldr:
Get as little ruby light as possible.
Farm 20+ pearlescent lights then azure lights until blue chest are top tier (Mandies)
Farm amber lights until you get a mega gold. Farm 5-10 more amber to be safe (Turtles)
Find a mob family that DOES NOT give ruby for WS kills. Kill these for the rest of the run as fast as possible. (Bloody Bats)
edit: ally setup was something like this (pt3 changed a bit during the run)
PT1 - 3x dd, brd, whm, rdm
PT2 - 4x dd, brd, rdm
PT3 - 3x blm, 2x sch, rdm
Awesome information Kilik. Thanks a ton!
Great information! thanks a lot!
Now to try and get my LS together and try this.
How viable would it be to have an abyssea alliance at chukwa? I've not had a chance to fight anything other than the "standard" stuff so idk how viable exping there and killing chukwa in between exping would be. If it is viable then i got exp+ farming for eggs. If not then I will just have to lv rdm some more and duo/lowman it.
Do the bloody bats give azure and pearl light? How about amber light (didn't see it in your list of mobs you tried) If so then it might be a good idea to just stick with bats and maybe turtles and ignore mandies entirely.tldr:

Bats dont give amber, landed killshots with red lotus and lolearth crusher on bard(gg soothing light).
I forget, skillchain kills register as what light?
Has anyone tried Bog Bodies (Qutrub) to see if those give amber lights on kills? It seems like they've been left alone.
When I was farming some quest items on qutrubs I think I did notice amber light at some point. I'm pretty sure but not certain.
Does Bhumi cast -ga spells? Trying to determine if he is soloable with DRG, but -ga spells would likely mean a dead wyvern which would throw that out the window.
I found one of those giganto boxes. Only had an Ice Ore :/ Has anything else besides temp items come from these?
He doesn't -ga or hit hard. You should get the HP buff and try to keep HP over 1200 so you can survive his Stone IV+the following hit or two. If you can't do that on DRG/mage, you might want to try just zerging him with your 2-hour and meds from the Cruor Prospector.
Bhumi behaves just like Titan Prime, except he does not have innate Enstone. No spells, just TP moves. No Earthen Fury either. Not sure about his elemental immunities other than my automaton's Aero IV doing like 50% of its HP.
