Here's my attempt at diagramming the tiers for the 2 main NM spawns in Tahrongi-A.

Abyssea NM system seems weird. I guess there's just some NMs that are just all on their own thing. Notably the spawn point for the Moaning Vestige, and the spawn point for the Chipped Sandworm Tooth/Overgrown Mandragora Flower don't appear to be integrated into anything.
Is Carabosse similarly separate from the flow chart? If so, they seemingly separated the Empyrean weapon NMs from everything. Even more BS unless it drops omgloot.
Just some input from the Thew bomblet NM.
We spent our hour long run a few days ago farming the black mandies for pop items. Went well, we got 6 or 7 of them with 7 people in our group. Lots of easy xp, cruor, etc. No time extensions, probably didn't kill long enough to get to the next chest tier or whatever its being called.
Anyway, we popped the NM to see how difficult it was, not really expecting to take it out so easily with a drop on the kill. We killed a few more mandies and left after that.
Tonight we went out there for 90 minutes to pop the NM. We got the Max HP buff to keep him from hitting us with his HP down move, and immediately popped him when we arrived at the point. He was fairly easy, easier than our pop a few days ago, as he didn't pop off his Malboro breath type move. No drop.
We killed a mandy or two until it respawned, popped him again, and he definitely seemed more difficult. Used the Malboro move quite a few times, seemed to hit the tank harder/faster. Also no drop.
We also seemed to have run out of luck farming extra pops for him. We saw one in the entire 90 minutes (And we only fought the NM twice seeing as how it appeared to have gotten stronger). So I'm wondering what everyone else has noticed about drop rates increasing or decreasing and why that may have happened. I've also heard that NM's will get more difficult if you pop them in succession, AND I've heard that killing the mobs around them affects it somehow. I don't know how much truth there is to either statement.
I dunno if its useful to note this or not either, but we got a scroll of Aisha: Ichi out of a brown chest. We also got a second brown chest that contained a demon ring augmented with INT+1, and a Wivre gorget augmented with HP+2 DEX+1 that is going on my rather gimp ass ninja.
Viridian Abyssite of Merit doesn't come exclusively from Bhumi. We've never fought Bhumi, and one of our paladins has an Abyssite of Merit. (He doesn't remember where it came from, but I've entered every time w/ him and we've never even seen Bhumi.)
Take it with a grain of salt until there is evidence to support it, but it has been posted on otherwiki that Chukwa drops the Creed Collar.
Did the Mandy NM today and went 0/3 on the Thew Bomblet.
Went as PLD/WAR SAM/WAR WHM RDM BRD.
Each fight we tryed to find the weakness on him with spells/WS/Ja's
The first fight we didnt find anything that made him go "!!"
The second time we got a green "!!" with flash. but only 4 times during a short time around 60-80%
The third time we got a red "!!" that "Terrord" him for 10sec the first time with Tachi: Jinpu.
And every time i used it after that it shortend the terror duration and after 5-6 (cant remember) it didnt work anymore. Here is a SS of the Red !!. didnt get a SS of the Green !!

That's interesting. Taking what the NPC text says that might suggest that there are two different types of weakness'. One type that triggers the Atma drop and another type that cripples its movement or abilities. Alternatively it could be like one is for movement and the other is for abilities, while either could trigger Atma drops. Something like that.
lol Wow you were really tryin to get that weak point going into Tachi: Jinpu of all things. That's such a specific terror trigger I wonder if NM's will pick a specific spell or weapon skill out of the party's arsenal at random when its popped. That might explain how I've been hearing the weaknesses change. Hell, could be Tachi: Jinpu all the time, for all I know.
Couple questions, lol, did you notice the NM getting more difficult in successive pops? Did you fight monsters in between? Before the first pop, too? Just trying to get to the bottom of this one.
Only killed the NMs and no of the normal mobs.
He didnt seem to get harder but when he did the Red !! he seem get weaker then normal and HP started to drop faster. But after he stoped giving the !! he went back to normal.
Edit: Only used Tachi: Jinpu that did like 50-130 dmg and he droped from 85~ to 50~ in around 2min with only using that WS 5-6 times.
Ok i'm alittle sleepy right now and forgot one thing.
When i got the red !! with Tachi: Jinpu i got alot of hate on it and the PLD had a hard time
geting hate of me.
I was using Seigen Third eye and had -PDT gear on and Defender up if that matters
Just to reiterate, OP is inaccurate in stating that Viridian Abyssite of Merit comes solely from defeating Bhumi. I have a Viridian Abyssite of Merit, and I have still yet to see Bhumi, let alone kill him. I wish I could remember where mine came from (I didn't notice I had it until after the fact), but it was 100% not Bhumi.
It's more likely that there is a random chance to obtain from any NM defeated in the zone.
Just went in to Tahrongi to try to EXP with time extentions on Pachypodium, we only had 12 ppl, had BRD/SAMx2/DRK/WHM/MNK as main PT and BLMx2/DRG/COR/RDM/RNG as PT#2. Our gear range was from very good to exceptionally good, I was using Acid bolts and RDM Dia III on all mobs, exp started @108 per kill, up to 303 on the last kill before being kicked out. We didn't get a single time chest at all, unsure if it's related to your color light and how you are killing the mobs (Magic/Normal Melee hit/WS/SC) but we never got something higher than feeble lights (we did end up getting all kind of lights, even Ebon light)
The last 30mins in, the blue chests were giving us 1250 exp/limit points, we only got cruor chests at the very begining. At the end we got 35.6k exp and 5.3k Cruor in a 1:30mins run. We had a designated chest opener (our BLM) who said he opened 40 chests, most of them were blue chests > red chests > golden with brown.
I'm guessing that group from Lakshimi was doing some kind of pattern with the Lights and they didn't notice/pay attention; to make Time Extention chests drop that often? Someone in our group suggested to kill with only regular melee hits, no magic or WSs, but the mobs were dying so fast, that I would WS@80% or so and so would other 2-3 melee taking the mob down instantly and timing is hard when you have multiple mobs around waiting to be massacred.
P.S. Will try again soon with a full alliance, once it's not 4th of july!
I think that might be true, but I still think it's worth noting which mobs/NM gives a certain AA. It could also be that NMs can give a higher than normal chance of dropping specific AAs. The ghost NM in LaTheine dropping AA of the Reaper on multiple occasions seems a little too coincidental.
Did another couple of nms today.
Got seige bow of turtle which is allready posted
Also got Metanoia Ring of Treble Noctules which hasnt been posted. Still no key item of either :/.

I got a message(that everyone saw) that I leveled up to 79 in Abyssea - Tahrongi,
the odd part is that I was already level 80 31k into the level at the time of level up! !Resist glitch is one thing ,but this one is new to me lol! anyone else :D(Btw 36k/h in ally xp off the bats there if it was not mentioned)
I know this post was kinda old but can you tell me how much of the potency is added with that key item and can you euip other ancitent abyssite key items on top of that one. Does it work with max HP and MP boost only? (like body boost and mantra only and MP boost drink?)
