Fuck, that makes sense then; they disappeared the same night we were hunting that tiny treant and my friends let me leach exp while they popped the NM... Thought it was sooner and I just didn't notice.
Thanks that's good to know
I don't know, I have left with less than 30 seconds and kept my temp items.
I've had this problem before where I lose my temp items if I time out. Another time I lost them when I d/c'd before I got visitant status.
But ... Sunday night my game crashed during an abyssea exp party and I couldn't get back online so I just went to bed. The next morning I logged in and was promptly kicked from Abyssea. I was certain my temp items would be gone but when I joined the same abyssea party an hour later (had to wait one hour for abyssea cool down and use 3x stones since I lost all my stored time) I still had all my items (all 25 or 26 of them including Revitalizer and others).
Weird ...
Just adding a bit about yearner for anyone interested. As a previous poster said he moves pretty quickly but is easily kited because he stops to TP non-stop and uses it whether you're in range or not similar to DI. Popped near Manticores and pulled down S to Mandy's since there's no agro there. Resists are pretty shitty, but using ele skill gear makes the more manageable. No element seemed to be best, everything seemed to either resist for like 250dmg or do full out 1k dmg. 2x blm/rdms made it very easy especially since aspir was doing constant 100+. Even if you get hit with his gravity/slow aoe move (murk) you can still outrun him since the charge up on carousel for so long. Fight took 18 minutes and that's including a 3 minute break while I moved TH4 into the zone and hit it. 1/1 eisen grip which I'm guessing is a high drop rate similar to RNG backpiece off Brooder.
edit: should note we both used a megalixir and had turul's atma to speed things up.
I read somewhere that using elements in cycle helps resists on him, and seemed to work fine for me. IE: Stone -> air -> ice -> fire -> water -> thunder -> stone repeatedly.. not sure the validity of it as I didn't test spam nuking the same element, but it's worth a shot.
I mentioned it while back in this thread but yea, Yearner's elemental weakness is based on the last spell u used. So if u cast fire3 you need to cast water next then > thunder > stone > wind > etc...
Naw, you guys are on crack. It's much simpler than that. Yearner takes full magic damage while he's charging or using a TP move. Otherwise he takes 1/4 magic damage.
I soloed this guy today in about half an hour on RDM/NIN.
Strategy (RDM/NIN, full buffs, get all the meds you can to speed up the fight though none are needed):
* Pop him, pull him to Conflux 7 (or any other hill you can safely run around indefinitely).
* Bio 2 and Poison 2 are good form.
* Carousel takes 2-3 shadows, if you let it hit you. There's no reason it should ever hit you because of it's ungodly long chargeup time.
* Carousel counts as a TP move for the purposes of his MDT, but doesn't in terms of resetting his TP.
* Put on your Fast Cast gear.
* Charge up your lazers.
* Trigger Carousel, move 1-2' further away from him, cast Water IV (pew pew!).
* Water IV will hit for over 700 damage if your nuking set is good and your Atma are in order.
* Repeat until it dies. Should take less than half an hour if you have meds.
* Oh yeah, Carousel's charge up time is so long that even if Murk gets you you can continue doing this strategy uninterrupted. The downside to this fight is that Chainspell does very little to speed it up. You get about 5 rounds of 2 nukes per Carousel off, then it's done.
* Alsooo, he has one TP move that strips shadows and poisons you. You can outrange it if you try. It's kind of nasty poison, so either use an Antidote or cast Stoneskin after you get it. No joke, I did 90% of this fight without Stoneskin because he's *that* harmless.
Important to note that his AoE hits people out of alliance/party even if they've done nothing to you. It also knocks them back. Some JPs got very angry at me this morning for pushing half of their turtle party into corpses.
3 kills, Praeda Gauntlets, no convert.
I am going to love soloing this nm.
Got him down under 15 minutes on my last kill using meds from the NPCs, Aescetic's Drink, Chainspell, Convert -> Martello -> Convert.
He dropped a Topaz and my stone converted to T3. 1/5 on Conversion. 1/2 on Praeda. 0/5 on Eisen grip. I forgot to toss Praeda after it dropped on my second kill, so I can't say anything more about that drop rate.
Also useful to note that this NM spams TP moves constantly. Assuming that TP moves interfere with the !!s showing up (as has been suggested in other threads) it's pretty much impossible to tell if you've triggered a !! on this guy.
6 days before update, any words on Antlions?
Does anyone have any further information regarding the Cannered Noz / Artemis medal fight? I've searched this thread, the general abyssea thread, and read the wiki discussion page. So far the conclusions that posters seem to have come to are 1. He can RR as many times as he wants similar to ix'drk, and 2. Each time he RR's he has less HP but higher tier spells including eventually death.
I'd love to get my hands on an artemis medal but there hasn't been one on the Odin AH in over 2 weeks. I'm really hoping people have figured out a trick to kill him so he doesn't RR because asking an alliance of players to kill a NM just for me that can potentially use a lot of abyssea minutes just plain isn't going to happen.
im beginning to think that the stand-alone NM of each zone (Ovni / Turul / Myrmecoleon) are unlocked by a number of different factors.. but given certain start dates..
like..
mobs that aren't popped yet have a 'start date' - even if all conditions are fulfilled and it appears, the earliest it can aggro is a particular date set by the devs, like Turul and Ovni's 2 months after.
and as for Myrmecoleon's pop condition, i think it might be a combination of like.. the number of Bhumi kills, as well as maybe the number of times the Bringing Down the Mountain was cleared.. or perhaps number of people who have 10/10 quest clears...
i'd come to this conclusion because Myrmecoleon still hasnt popped when it probably should have...
Perhaps the thing thats is meant to trigger its appearance is the 10/10 quest clears...
Tahrongi's is a lot harder to get than the other 2.. and thats the biggest thing that sets it apart from the other 2 zones..
so maybe if we wanna see Myrme and Iratham in Visions, we're gonna have to start exping on Qutrubs and clearing that quest...
or maybe kill a lot more Bhumis?
apologies if someone has already suggested this.
No offense, but I think you're trying to hard to have a relationship that you -want- to exist because you originally predicted come into being. I'm not going to discount your overall idea, perhaps it is a "whichever occurs 2nd, X date or Y qualifications," but I think even suggesting Bhumi is related is ridiculous. Pavan popped significantly later than Bhumi or Akash - and furthermore, Bhumi dropped a nice abyssite (albeit shared with some other NMs) whereas Akash didn't. I think the chanc that Bhumi was killed less than other avatars is virtually nonexistent.
Again, no idea on other requirements.
Also, I think you're overstating Glavoid's difficulty Gwyn, not that it matters.
Hes not that bad, 2x dd/nin, brd, rdm/drk, whm thf will see ya right, but he will take a while to kill simply cause of the amount of reraises, we havent found any trick to make him stop reraiseing. I haven't counted but we have faught 3 times and seemed like he reraised about the same amount each time so not random like Ix'drk. If have more people able to help just take a few blms to speed it up.

It's in middle of Lamenters. Underground, can't aggro.
Edit: On Valefor.
