Abyssea - La Theine Discussion

Has some degree of fast cast but aeroga is certainly stunnable. I was playing rdm in blm party so I'm not 100% sure on damage from tp moves but nothing seemed remotely dangerous, Sam/nin tank rarely dropped below 50%.

Has an assload of hp but otherwise an extremely boring fight.

Did you notice anything that triggered it absorbing magic damage? We played around with it trying to figure out what causes it but nothing solid.

This may have already been said but just duo'd a Megamaw Mikey with a BLM on Iceday. He cast Blizzard IV on it and got the !! - for the rest of the fight it didn't even attempt to cast or anything (which it doesn't always, big deal) - but furthermore, no worms linked to it and no worms even moved around it (which normally they very obviously do).

A little bit of chest weirdness.

Went in with an alliance to farm Gigas key items. Got two key items, but while farming the second NM Pantagruel we got a 10 minute extension chest and 1250 XP chest. We didn't have very high light levels up to that point.

I wonder if killing NMs gives big boosts in light levels to get better chests. We were getting really high Cruor and XP chest later in the run in general.

dumb question, aeroga stunnable? also, damage on cyclonics?

second dumb question: did you have any mdt gear or do you just wear a kaman and mdb shield? i assume you had capped mdt but you didn't specify so checking anyway

Aeroga should be stunnable, tried to get our blms to but I think they were a bit slow. Cyclonics were doing around 700+, with mute+amnesia and its DA in melee mode it can drop you incredibly quickly. Didn't have my complete mdt set with me and the first cast took me by surprise one-shotting me for 1.8k -.-

And as to the magic absorbing I think its linked to current mode but im unsure which.

Maybe they just made it look easy, but that thing seemed pretty easy. Can someone tell what the item was that dropped with it besides the cape? Was it an Atma or some regular temp item?

lol i conclude that a behemoth that cannot regularly cast meteor is not much of a real threat.

good on SE for creating some form of balance tho. You dont go into the zone boss looking at an instant wipe ala AV/PW, but I was hoping it'd be a tad harder. Maybe they toned it down in light of the fact that time in Abyssea is limited and this was already a 30min fight

For those looking to build fame in Abyssea - La Theine, here's what I did (You can check your fame with Namonutice at base camp. His dialog follows his vana'diel counterpart.):

Rank 1:
The Angling Armorer (repeatable): The easiest and fastest way to build fame at any level since you don't need to zone or run all over. Warp to Conflux 4.
Unbreak His Heart (repeatable after zoning): Fairly easy if you buy a bunch of willow fishing rods. Warp to Conflux 4, then to Conflux 6.
Gift of Light (repeatable after zoning): Easy quest. Can only get the key item between 06:00 and 18:00. Choose the "Now!" option just after you start bouncing back up. Warp to Conflux 7 then back to Conflux 1. Make sure you toss/use/sell your Hi-Reraiser if you have one in inventory or you won't be able to collect your reward.
Refuel and Replenish (La Theine) (repeatable once per vana'diel day): Very simple. Select the refuel option from Machine Outfitter. I suggest Martello TR-07 by Conflux 6 since it gets used somewhat often. Must be under 900 energy to recharge. Warp to Conflux 6, then back to Conflux 1.

Best route at this point is the following:
- Flag Gift of Light from Amaura and Refuel and Replenish from Machine Outfitter at base camp.
- [Only if time is between 06:00 and 18:00] Warp to Conflux 7. Head West to Jagged Cliff. It will be on your left.
- Warp to Conflux 4 and flag The Angling Armorer from Exoroche and Unbreak His Heart from Joulet.
- Turn in any Rusty Kunai, Zaghnals, Spears, or Shields you have to Exoroche.
- Warp to Conflux 6.
- Trade a Willow Fishing Rod to Gallijaux.
- [Only if you flagged the quest] Walk slightly Northeast from Conflux 6 to Martello TR-07 and select the "Begin replenishing" option, following the instructions.
- Warp back to Conflux 1.
- Talk to Amaura and Machine Outfitter to complete their respective quests.
- Zone and repeat.

NOTE:
- The key item for Gift of Light can only be obtained between 06:00 and 18:00, turn in time doesn't matter.
- Refuel and Replenish can only be completed once per vana'diel day.
- If you zone before completing Refuel and Replenish you will lose any progress and have to start over.

Rank 2:
A Mightier Martello (La Theine) (Repeatable once per vana'diel day): Now you can do this one instead of Refuel and Replenish. There is no energy level requirement so it is easier to complete. Choose the Upgrade option from Machine Outfitter instead of Refuel.

Best route:
- Flag Gift of Light from Amaura and A Mightier Martello from Machine Outfitter at base camp.
- [Only if time is between 06:00 and 18:00] Warp to Conflux 7. Head West to Jagged Cliff. It will be on your left.
- Warp to Conflux 4 and flag The Angling Armorer from Exoroche and Unbreak His Heart from Joulet.
- Turn in any Rusty Kunai, Zaghnals, Spears, or Shields you have to Exoroche.
- Warp to Conflux 6.
- Trade a Willow Fishing Rod to Gallijaux.

Rank 4:
Water of Life (Repeatable after zoning): Fairly easy with a bit of leg work. Hardest part is the pond surrounded by Poroggo.

Best route:
- Flag Gift of Light from Amaura and A Mightier Martello from Machine Outfitter at base camp.
- [Only if time is between 06:00 and 18:00] Warp to Conflux 7. Head West to Jagged Cliff. It will be on your left.
- Warp to Conflux 6 and flag Water of Life from Miageau.
- Walk slightly Northwest to the pond and check the Murky Water.
- Walk somewhat Southwest to the pond surrounded by Poroggo. The Murky Water is on the East side of the pond.
- Return to Conflux 6 and warp to Conflux 4.
- Flag The Angling Armorer from Exoroche and Unbreak His Heart from Joulet.
- Turn in any Rusty Kunai, Zaghnals, Spears, or Shields you have to Exoroche.
- Walk up the ramp and head slightly West between the two ponds. Murky Water will be found on the West side of the large pond and the East side of the small pond, very close to each other.
- Return to Conflux 4 and warp to Conflux 6.
- Talk to Miageau to complete his quest.
- Trade a Willow Fishing Rod to Gallijaux.
- [Only if you flagged the quest] Walk slightly Northeast from Conflux 6 to Martello TR-07 and select the "Begin upgrading" option, following the instructions.
- Warp back to Conflux 1.
- Talk to Amaura and Machine Outfitter to complete their respective quests.
- Zone and repeat.

Rank 5:
Continue as you have been for Rank 4.

Rank 6:
You can now flag Out of Touch which rewards Scarlet Abyssite of Kismet. Flag it from Glenne by Conflux 6. Her Husband Aaveleon can be found all over the zone. I personally found him running West in J-9 near the Irate Sheep. Go back to Glenne after finding him to finish the quest.


On a related note, has anyone with Scarlet Abyssite of Kismet done any testing as to its effect on blue caskets? I'm out of time for now after spamming quests for fame so I haven't had a chance myself.

Aaveleon also runs around past Farfadet and all the way west to the north-west of tigers.

I'm at Rank4 and i still find the best way for me is to pay my way to fame... rusty items and lotsa willow fishing rods lol

Yeah, I got extremely lucky when I found him. I randomly decided to warp to Conflux 8 because I'd seen him near the Hammering Rams the other day so I looped around there a bit. I was heading West spamming my tab key when I saw something starting with an 'A' get targeted and it ended up being him. So lucky!

Took me about 150 minutes of time in Abyssea to get Rank 6 fame by the way, including time spent on some less efficient quests. I only did 17 turn ins for rusty weapons, 12 Kunai and 5 Spears.
