For briareus, my set can either go a melee-centric-straight-tank kinda deal or we can nuke/kite. Which would be better/faster? Any tips for him and where we should fight him at?

Anyone bother killing the Akash's? Wondering if it give anything still. I think most people don't bother but it's strange it has no drop. D:

at this point i think most people are convinced Akash's only purpose is for giving temp items..

4 RDMs straight tanking is <20 min. Add in some other misc mages and you can probably cut it to 8-10min. Assuming it's your first time, so you should try to get the atma, and use a method that allows you time to proc !!. Zerg is an option if you already have atma and only one pop, but if it's not your first time why are you there with one pop to begin with?

Anyone have any consistent tricks to getting the grellow to pop on Mangy-Tailed Marvin on RDM/NIN? Been spamming him when I can for the cape and have only procced it twice. And of course it still didn't drop. 25 min/kill is nice but still adds up when you have to keep going back. My stones are running on empty even with 12-hour recharge b/c of this fucker. :/

Well, rare items in old zones (like the Cape from Marvin) are thought to require blue !!s, not Grellow. So there's no real point in trying to proc Grellow on him unless you're bored.

I figured it was grellow since a a couple of people from my LS who are friends when in there as RDM + BLM and duo'd it went 1/1 full drops + Atma. :/ Marvin must just like being a douche to me. I swear I'm like at least 0/15 now. ><;

Marvin doesn't even drop an atma. If you meant abyssite, then fair enough.
Even so, as said, they just got lucky. Killing it without TH and/or blue !! when going for the rare drop is really just such a huge timesink, that it's not worth it unless you're swimming in stones.

Find a friend to tag it with TH for you before it dies, if you aren't already. Also try and melee it to proc a blue !!. That's all you can do really, without bringing more people into it.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but it seems Ovni resets PDT when left alone. Someone on our server PDT++ him and when we went to fight him (Fully aware of the situation earlier), he did not have PDT in effect.

Ruminator in video killed at the fence just north of Conflux #2, best spot IMO, although others certainly work just fine.

If you're gonna do a bunch in a row I would assume you're gonna bring a couple of melee to cap out pearl to get some time in between. Assuming correct atmas Rehn's 6, mnk sam brd rdm stun stun should be able to do them in 5-10 as well w/o 2hrs. Just stun colossal and run around during meikyo. It's best to stun on meikyo animation since it jumps immediately after and can be hard for tanks to separate fast enough to kite. Pop spot is enough space if you're lazy, or just move it beside the lake for easy kiting. Even if you get cursed cause you miss first stun during meikyo, as long as follow up stun is on so tanks can separate/ get out of the way, it should be fine. If melee die for some silly reason you can always kite/nuke with your rdm and two stunners. You can even range his hammer move to hit only 1 tank by fighting on opposite sides @ max distance to make it even easier on mp consumption.

I don't mean to be mean but I think he's just being a douche

I went 1/2 and on the one that dropped we didn't melee at all. Duoed RDM and BLM.
