First off, we're not soldiers, we're sailors. Soldier = Army. That description is mostly false. You have a lot of dorks that play Xbox they have free time, a lot of non-athletic people... kinda hard to run and do all sorts of outdoors-type stuff when you're on a ship for 3-9 months at a time. You do have a few hardcore sailors that swear the navy is the best thing since sliced bread, but mostly, no. The younger guys are usually hardcore, the older they get, the more calm we tend to be. As for rating my time, I'd give it a 7/10. Would be higher had I not been a dumbass and got dropped in rank twice, lol, but so far, I've enjoyed my stay.

In Albania, we were specifically told not to talk to their women, as the men there are VERY protective, even if they have no relation whatsoever to the woman in question. Otherwise, I've not noticed too much, except spanish guys trying to cockblock.

If we're in a foreign port and see someone from another branch, it's mostly friendly banter and competition, as normal as it would be a group of guys out chasing tail.

You probably would find the majority of this in the Marines. When I actually dated/was married to one, yeah.. a lot of the people in his platoon were the stereotypical military idiots. (along with the guy I was dating as well in hindsight!)

One of the shitty jobs I mentioned before was selling cologne and perfume out of the back of my car (yeah, i know), so I learned a lot of smells, and which smell good on me :D
