Lol np, just know you only have 30 days from the date of purchase to register on the website in order to get the lifetime warranty.

Since you're making the trip out to MicroCenter I suggest you note down the prices of all your items from Newegg and compare them to MicroCenter. If it's cheaper on a site like Newegg/TigerDirect/Frys/etc they will price match and you will get it for the lower price. The only problem here is that you are now paying tax. In most cases though... It actually comes out slightly cheaper than paying for the shipping from Newegg; case especially - Eggsaver is not always available.
I bought my entire build (minus GPU) at the MC in Westbury and ended up spending 997. Paid an extra 100 for 1yr entire build warranty (gets you locked into the price so later you can say "Hey this shit broke" and build a new one. lol).
I recently decided to build a new PC for myself and I kind of used this thread as a semi-guide so I thought I'd post this here instead of a new thread. Does anyone see any glaring problems with these items?

Shh. I only skimmed through a few posts at the bottom. W/e same goes for anyone building a PC. ;p
dunno if its just me.. but seems like your spending alot of extra money for verry small power bost. you could prob buy. Middle of the road items and have the same amount of power
your Ram/Motherboard/GPU are all "whats most expensive" type items.. that you wont notice at all. Id go with a 5870 but im biased cuz i have one.
I know you're referring to the above poster, but I picked a lot of these same items, but saved some money going to MicroCenter. All in all I spent around $1500. My machine should be set for years, with the overclocking and stuff I can do with it. I also only picked up 6 gig of RAM instead of 8 as even 6 to some degree is overdoing it. l I've always preferred Nvidia over ati, but like you, just preference. I also picked up my i7 for $110 or so cheaper. Everything else was either cheaper or price matched at MicroCenter. Also, it's built from the ground up, unlike a prefab machine which of this calibur would probably be double the price. I have a year with no interest to pay it off, so to me it's worth it.
I actually looked up microcenter and there's one about 5 min away from me, so I'll be going there to get most of my parts. I guess I'll take a look at some of the things I chose to see about getting a better value. But like Odesseiron, nvidia is my preferred card.
What do you guys do for OS when building machines?
OEM (original equipment manufacturer) discs from newegg always worked well for me. Less expensive than the retail box, and specifically allotted for someone building their PC.
2011 disclaimer: Microsoft changed their license for OEM so read it and check before you buy. Can't be used on a computer for yourself anymore.
Creative is fucking terrible. Worst drivers/software in the industry and Asus cards wipe the floor with them. Went from an X-Fi to a Xonar Essense and was completely blown away by how much better the Xonar sounded. Onboard sound > Creative Labs cards.
Piracy.
Hmm, I've always been using Creative, but I've never had an issue with them. I agree the driver support is piss poor, but really never any problems. I might as well pick upa new sound card since I got a whole new system anway. I don't need anything terribly expensive. If it's that much better sound, I might go for it.
As far as OS goes, I'm just going to use my Windows 7 64 bit upgrade disk. Don't care if it's as great or not as the full retail. For what I do with a CP it is just fine.
I kind of want to do this cause I'm poor. Help me out? What do you guys do for OS when building machines?Piracy.
=D.
Do you have to use the loader every time you boot, or just the first time?
Also there's a windows update that will screw up your loader if you install it, I forget the name offhand but it's optional anyway. Just read update descriptions before installing them.
micro center was a GREAT call...saved me a couple hundred dollars off of newegg.
