Saw Arus's thread, decided (against more prudent thinking) to make my own. It has similarities.

So, short story long, I'm also looking for a social-ish shell. A background on what I'm looking for would go somewhat as follows:

I'm looking for a LS of decent players that doesn't have scheduled events, and where I won't be regularly asked for help by people.

I'm aware of how this sounds. Reading it might make you immediately think that I'm a selfish dick... that's probably what I would have thought at least, once upon a time. But here's the thing... I'm only acting like a selfish dick because I know that I personally don't want to do scheduled events anymore, or be hit up for help requests every time I log in. The way I see it, is that it's important to be honest about this if I'm trying to find a shell... because although I don't mind (and actually rather enjoy) doing things with other people for fun, if I'm going to find what I'm looking for there's no denying the truth of what that shell would need to be like. I'm not looking to build something anymore. I'm not looking to move in a specific direction, or work hard in a video game anymore. I'm really just looking to exist through level 99, do what I think might be fun on any given day, and hopefully make some friends in the process.

If any of you happen to have this magical linkshell that I seek where people can have fun and play the game without being forced to attend events or be bombarded with requests, it would make my day to join. Absolutely make my day. Hell, maybe it doesn't exist at all, and I need to start one up myself with this sort of a mentality where people can just do whatever the fuck they want..... but my server transfer is up in a couple of weeks, and I would throw money at a transfer in a heartbeat if I could find a group of potential friends to screw around in ffxi with for a couple more years!

I've gotten a couple PMs, but mostly there's been time zone conflicts or offers are still heavy on scheduling/points. I'm kind of in the "believing it doesn't exist" boat, but I'm not so naive to believe that there aren't groups quietly out there thriving without the discerning eye of... perfection upon them. Doubly so if they never even (think to) look/post here for new recruits.

As is, one of my old friends surprised me by resubbing, so that's been helping the ennui as we tinker around with stuff, but how long that'll last is unknown.
