If it was in an actual accident that was reported, then sure.

My parents had a van they bought new years ago. When they sold it, turns out, there was bondo in one of the side doors, despite them never having been in an accident in it. Kind of thing happens.

Was gonna say to check about simply getting the door resprayed, versus insurance fraud (few hundred bucks is cheap compared to legal fees), but it sounds like it's working out anyway =P

well i could have it resprayed, but since its the drivers side door handle and the passenger side door fading then it'd be 2 door, and when i got the trunk lid fixed they couldnt match the paint because it had just deteriorated too much after a year of having it already so I dont wanna end up with a third color on my car lol. I'd rather pay the 1K deductible and get a whole body paint job and ensure that everything matches..

besides I've looked at a couple of other places and everybody says mazda factory paint is just pure shit. I have a friend with a red one and her doors are doing the same. I dont know if its how it bonds too the door or the paint itself but its fucking awful.

plus i might use this oppurtunity to change my color

The Mazda Paint is just put on very thin.

The fading leads me to believe something was amiss with the clear coat used on the car.

I would assume you wash/wax the car regularly correct?

    Edit:

Use this shit once you get the car repainted. Manufacturer suggest re-application after 12 months, I re-apply every 6 months because the car isn't always garaged.

You can use your favorite Carnuba Wax over top of the sealant as well. You just have to wait for the sealant to fully cure first.

This is why you don't buy a silver car. If I recall, it's one of the hardest colors to match (worked at a dealership a few years back).

Also, I feel your pain, as Subaru paint is not very good either.

Grey may be hard to match, but there's down sides to pretty much every car color:

    -Grey/Silver tough to match
    -Red Fades quickest
    -Black shows every slight scratch/imperfection

That leaves you with Green, Yellow, and Blue as a choice lol (for the RX-8 that is).

if you still need the carfax, PM me your VIN, I can get them for free. Also, contact mazda directly. I'll see if I can find the name of the regional sales rep for your district if I have time today. If not I'll forward you on the name of the new england guy

Lol dangit. It almost worked. I had the estimate, turned it into my friend and she put the claim thru and all was well. Then the adjuster called and asked for details and I told her what my friend had wrote that happened and she was like " that's an awful lot of money for that kind of incident, were gonna send somebody down from HQ to look over the vehicle. Well of course I had to call the claim off, or go to jail for fraud i guess.

Then I went and got another opinion about the door handle and he said that the door had been off the hinge before cuz the bolts were worn down and underneath the window seal the paint was a different color and the jambs were different too. Well I called mazda corporate and they called the dealership and asked them about it and they said that I had never even brought the car too them for it. Thankfully I have papers still with the three times I had been up there.

I'm gonna go talk to my familys attorney tomorrow and get him to just write a letter to the dealership and to Mazda corporate to se what they do. I'm sure they'll offer to repair the door but I'm just gonna be like bullshit, idk what else on the car has been worked on before so i want a whole new paint job. My body shop said it looks like the passenger door had been worked On previously too so idk well see.

And thanks desertigloo!! I forgot to right it down and the wife has the car now I'll pm you tomorrow. Any help at all is greatly appreciated. I just feel that im getting a raw deal having paid 32.5 for it and now all this shit is happening

Don't involve the dealership at all if they have refused you once already.

Just spend your time speaking with Mazda directly. They will eventually order the dealership to repaint it. I would expect the Mazda rep is going to want to see your car in person.

Just have your body shop point out all of the "evidence" of the re-spray so you can show the rep.

Just keep in mind you are going to get the same exact paint on the car again. Be sure to take care of it very well, or you could be in the same situation down the road..... except the car won't be under warranty.

Claybar (Once a year) -> Wash (bi-weekly if possible) -> Paint Sealant (twice per year) -> Wax (every month or so, but depends on the wax you use)

Yea thats why I dont really like is the fact that I'd be getting the same paint again but I mean as long as my car is one color and no faults on it then i'll be happy.

I know they're going to want to just repaint the damaged handle, but honestly tho if this happened how do i know other panels didnt get repainted and more problems are gonna come up one day.

Originally they said the handle looked like chemical damage and told me to contact my Xylon rep, some kinda paint protectant they used on the car so I did and the rep had told me that for a car that is 2yr old that mine had the paint job of a 20yr old car sitting out in the sun that the paint had faded so much. So if thats the case then I dont want them spraying new paint on an already faded card and have it be mismatched. I know I'm going to have to fight to have the whole thing repainted but I'll do what I have to =/

If you do end up with Mazda only doing the doors for now...... get EVERYTHING in writing.

That way when the body panels eventually wear the same way, you will have everything documented.

replied in PM, but basic gist as i'm sure some people are interested.

The vehicle he was sold is actually a 2007 RX-8, so there could be some foul play going on at the dealership (or he could have been delivered an incorrect vehicle).

    ROFL!

Maybe you'll get a brand new car out this after all lol.

    Edit:

How is it possible for the dealership to even screw that up? Unless they did it purposely.
The 10th digit/number of the VIN says exactly what year the car was made. I believe after 2000, it should be a number.

Did you get the model year info from the car fax, or directly from the VIN number?

I'd be double checking my paperwork and speaking with a lawyer if the paperwork from the original sale says the car was a 2008.

Yea I'm definitely gonna get it in writing. I'm not gonna settle for just the door tho, I want that shit to be like it shouldve been when I bought it

and yea to answer to question quixon I actually wash it pretty much how you suggested. By weekly and wax every six weeks. Since it has that Xylon paint protectant I was told to never use paint sealer but after a paint job I'm going to just tell them to keep that shit off of there. Everywhere I read said it was a joke anyhow

I just found a note in my glove box with all of my paperwork for my car. It was a piece of paper with an appointment on it to where I had to take my car in there to get my hood sprayed.. I didnt realize that but I talked to my mother and she reminded me of it. I have one of those clear stick on bras to protect my paint and the bra had a huge X on it and I asked what it was and they said that there were some minor scratches that they had to repair. Glad I found that, I had forgotten all about it.

    Unfortunately no foul play there

and its 8 numbers back from the end of the VIN is to tell what the year is... mines a 7 lol

haha okay, that's good. Misdeliveries happen more often then you would think, especially when models don't change drastically from year to year.

Remember most sales people (the people you get the car from) usually have at best, a high school education, don't ever trust them to do your paperwork properly. Still working on trying to get you that reps info.

any chance you can pull up any work done to the car that may have been repaired by a dealership? it came with 317 miles on it so any damage to the car had to be done by the dealership and like its been stated plenty of times before, anything done by the dealership was probably repaired by the dealership so more likely than not its not going to show up in carfax or any public records.

    It's no problem man.

Mazda is a pretty good company when it comes to taking care of warranty repairs. As you see, the dealerships are a completely different story.

Let us know how everything works out for you.
