I'd look into a couple extra layers of clear coat. At least see how much it would cost out of pocket for you. They might hook you up with a bit of a deal.

I'm not gonna get the clear put on by them, one of our employee's father owns a paint shop and a body/repair shop. after I get it back I was gonna take it out to him and he was gonna clear it and wetsand it for me. plus I worked there for a while so i know he uses good shit, idk what kinda shit they're gonna put on it.

thanks again for all the help guys. i'll pm some pics or some shit when I get it back.

real question is, I wonder how long the process itself to get it in a shop and get painted is going to take... I still have to get it read by a spectrometer to legally have it authorized by mazda but the rep and the dealer GM both said they already know its gonna get worked out.

Only problem is I work 7days a week so I gotta try to figure out how to get the time off to go back up there and get it read by the rep. but hey.. I'm content.

The dealership should hook you up with a loaner vehicle, so at least you won't have to worry about that.

Auto Painting is a VERY labor intensive process if done correctly. They should be sanding all the way down to the primer, and then painting.

I would say 3 weeks but I've only had cars painted by friends, so I would think they take a bit longer than whoever is painting your car.

    Update:

I was suppose to hear from the rep the following day and never did. I've been calling Mazda service center GM and the co-owner/GM of the whole owner group of duval mazda and I have yet to hear a phone call back.

They were all happy to make it seem like they wanted to help but when it comes to getting things done then they just seem to be jerking me off. The one time I got thru to the mazda service GM it was because I called from my work phone. I honestly believe they are screening my calls. Yesterday I called and asked if he was in and they said yes, they forwarded my call to his office and then it rang one time and i immediately got sent back up front. I would imagine somebody would have to be in the office for me to get forwarded back up front.

Ive told them previously that I go back to school on august 15th and that I wont be able to carpool to work anymore with my wife then so I had to have it back by then.

I'm honestly just up in arms at what to do. Its not only my paint, its my gas fuel cap, my drivers side visor mirror. My gas tank still spews gas all over the place instead of clicking to warn me whenever im nearing the top of the tank. my driver side visor mirror wont stay up, the glue got to hot i guess in the florida heat and came apart, and it keeps falling down in my face. I cant unscrew it because of the wires going to it to light the mirror inside. I mean these could be considered potentially hazardous to my health, and my new puppy!

I was honestly contemplating just getting it painted myself and then just suing to collect damages afterwards. But I dont know my chances of actually succeeding.

    Anymore thoughts?

I'm a little confused by who you are trying to contact, so I want to clear that up before I go any further.

Are these people affiliated to/with the dealership, or are they Mazda people you are directly trying to contact?

the people i've been contacting are the owners and service GM's of the dealership. they told me they would have the mazda corporate rep come out and gauge my car paint with a mil-gauge. well I have yet to hear from him. The dealership wont even return my phone calls to tell me whats going on, the one time I did get thru they told me they wouldnt give me his number so that I could call. Just that they would have him call me.

I called Mazda Corporate and they wont do anything other than call the dealership and have them contact me. I've done this THREE times and yet all times I have yet to receive a call back from the dealership. I called the dealership and left them a message saying that i'll be up there tomorrow at 3 when i get off work cuz its my one free day off and that i expect something to be done then.

I just dont see how corporate cant help me, especially when I'm waiting on the corporate florida rep to contact me. Yet nobody can give me his number or cant have him call me. once i start school I dont know when I'll be able to get it done, unless they're willing to give me something to drive.

i'm 2k miles from my 36k warranty. i drive about 120miles/day. I guarantee you that they're trying to run my warranty out and be dicks about it.

Call Mazda (the company not the dealership), and explain to them you are not comfortable with the current dealership doing the work. Tell them how they are dicking you around, and you have tried multiple times to get in contact with a Mazda Rep. Either the dealership isn't following through (which is more than likely the case), or the Mazda Rep is not following through. Do not take, "contact "x" Dealership", as an answer. You've gone through enough bullshit, it's time to stop being nice and get your car taken care of.

If you haven't already, you need to keep detailed notes of who you speak with and when you speak with them. This way if they are trying to pull this shit past warranty, you have documentation stating this goes back to when the car was still warrantied.... and the dealership/mazda is at fault for not doing the work in a timely manner.

After you bring it to the dealership you are currently dealing with, I'd be looking at a new dealership ASAP. There has to be another one near you that you can deal with. Call them and let them know the situation, and that you really need to speak with the local Mazda Rep. I would bet you the local rep contacts you in a timely fashion.

Like I said, I would bet the dealership isn't following through. I've never heard of people having this much trouble getting honest warranty work done on a Mazda. Most of the time I'm seeing shit where Mazda performs the work under warranty even though the car is no longer under warranty.

Grab a bussiness card from a local attorney, head over to the dealership with documentation you have about who was supposed to call you back.... what was said to be done to the car etc, etc....

    Makes copies of everything

Head to the reception area of the dealership, and inform them you would like to speak to the GM. Explain the situation yet again, and if they give you the same BS about him calling you. Inform the person telling you this, that your sick of it and if someone higher up does not contact you in 24 hours you will have your lawyer contact them. Then present the documentation, and business card of random attorney.

Yet if that doesn't work........ find another dealership.

Just left the dealership. The service guy was like yeah sorry I've been busy and haven't had a chance to return your phone calls. He's like sorry I dropped the ball on this one and I asked if it was just possible to have a different dealership handle the warranty work and he immediately picked up the phone and called another dealership and told them that they decided not to deal with me anymore. Well they set me up at another dealership and the rep is gonna look at my car there. And then the gm of the dealership storms out and asks what's going on that he just got a call saying that I'm taking it somewhere else and he asked me why and I pulled out my trusty ipad and showed him my phone records that i had screen shotted of both incoming and outgoing and he's like you never got a returned call? And i said nope and he then goes off on the service guy in the middle of the store. It was pretty epic. So the rep is still looking at my car at a different dealership on the 18th and gonna report back to my normal dealership.

Between now and then tho I'm going to still contact corporate. These jackoffs still prolly wont do anything. They said if its a problem with the clear then its covered but if the paint itself is a different color then its not so it'll be interesting to see cuz I know its a different color.

The wires that go into your visor mirror to light the light, how do you remove those? My mirror is busted too but they cant fix it cuz I didn't have an appointment (because they never returned my calls but w/e) and it keeps falling down so I was just gonna take it off until I could get it fixed.
