    Internet Connection [Partially] Dropping ;|

Over the course of the last 24 hours, my connection has suddenly decided that it is going to repeatedly just disrupt. I can't figure out if it's my router's fault or ISP. I know that it is not PC-specific as the connection drops wirelessly (but wireless devices still showing full signal strength) as well. For a while, the connection would barely last 5-20mins between dropping. After about 30 seconds, the signal returned, but everything which required a continuous connection, FFXI, Skype, BT, etc, had all been disconnected.

I have a WRT54GS and I've updated to the latest firmware and my connection is still dropping. It's taking much longer between drops and it seems to only drop partially. Example being, I'm updating FFXI and the connection does not break for it, and it continues DLing, but I'm unable to load pages in FF and MSN messenger disconnects. I also tried playing a few games in Civilzation IV earlier today and could connect in MP, but after 20 minutes or so, the games would hang, and I wouldn't be disconnected from Civilization, but would be completely unable to access any other form of the internet until Civilization was closed. Another instance was being unable to even access google, but being able to browse BG without a problem.

I've tried updating the firmware, resetting my router, swapping ports on my router, swapping ethernet cables... the only thing I haven't tried (and it's because I don't have a long enough cable) is going straight from my Fiberoptic modem to my PC. I've never had this problem since switching to this ISP, nor had I ever had it before. When I run the Win7 network diagnostic tool as the connection drops, it says that there is a problem connection to some websites, but it does not know of a solution.

I don't know how to fix this or what caused it, does anyone else? :<

I have had the -exact- same thing on my router last week, I heard it might be related to the channel of the WiFi conflicting with other wireless networks (since there is like 60 of them here >_>), I just went ethernet but you can give it a try.

Having you tried disabling uPnP? Have you done a factory reset on the router?

That sounds like the same symptoms my Linksys router had before it finally just crapped out.

Do you have any computers connected to the router with a cable? If not, disable the wifi on one of your computers and plug it into the router. If it still drops over the course of the day, plug your modem directly into your computer. If it STILL does it, your modem/ISP is to blame, if not, it's the router.
