Actually there is one on each channel.... actually it might be more then one....

DC was cool to watch for like the 1st season, but even half way through that you realize every episode is essentially the same, one boat catching the crab, one boat not catching crab, one boat lost, one boat covered in ice, one boat with engine trouble. Either way it isn't completely horrible for background noise while doing other things.

But i'm also annoyed that they keep adding more reality shows generally involving rednecks doing hard work and making stupid mistakes. Though I can't shake the feeling it is actually scientific studies of the redneck in his natural habitat....

i cant think of a show on DC that i dont like off the top of my head except for that woodlogging show. but what other show besides the Deadliest catch has a like 4-5 people die every season? its fucking cool to sit in a state where 80 degrees is considered cold, watching these people wanting to kick the longhorn's ass (or whatever the new people are called) for not loading in the bait inside a heavy fucking pot in the middle of the ocean at like 35 degrees and under. not to mention, it has some reality TV elements in it as well, but the only thing is.. its actually real, lol. they do some decent editing, obviously, but the takes and injuries are as about as real as you can get.


plus, i've been deathly afraid of crabs or any crustaceans since i was like 2. so this is a nice view of something i dont ever want to see IRL.

I totally agree. Phil was one of my favourite captains, and the show will definitely be poorer for losing him. I can't imagine how Jake in particular must be feeling...I wonder if he feels like his admitting his addiction problem caused his father too much stress, and pushed him over the edge for the stroke. It's got to be something that will eat at him.

As for the haters, maybe they do play it a bit too often during the week, but I'd prefer it any day over some of the other so called 'reality shows' some other channels have. It's not just some cooked up competition or something, people die every year on the show. Not all from the actual crabbing work sure, but the whole lifestyle wears them down eventually (see Phil).

I like all of those shows. The only shows I couldn't stand was How It's Made, and Swamploggers.

Swamploggers is an hour of some redneck complaining about how if he doesn't get another 5 trucks to the mill he is going bankrupt (every fucking episode).

Woah woah woah hold the fucking phone. Now I honestly don't know why but for some reason that show just captivates my attention fully. I'll sit there and watch the show for hours on end be like "what the fuck, it's xxx already goddamn." It somehow makes the most uninteresting items interesting to me, and I like the narrator.

Also yeah, what happened to time warp? Need to play that shit a lot more. Prolly one of the only shows (besides mythbusters) I actually talked about with friends irl.
