Aaron and his partner said they had followed them for a couple weeks, and they had that listening device, probably was just hanging back hiding and listening to them talk amongst each other.

Wouldn't they have seen Carol in action, then? I can't recall what exactly the group was doing. They left the hospital area, then traveled to Noah's home, drove for a bit, and then traveled on foot?

I think it's safe to assume they started following them sometime shortly after Tyrese died. The group ran out of gas and started walking shortly thereafter. I don't believe the group, or Carol otherwise, did anything too noteworthy in that time frame, except maybe tricking the zombies into the ravine.

Their group is closer to DC so I doubt they saw any of the real action. The hospital was in Atlanta and Tyrese died in Virginia(was still like 100 miles out from DC right?).
