If it was done reality tv style it would be a fantastic show. Just bring in douchebags from across America and root for the zombies.

Horror isn't about site gags and cheap thrills. Go watch one of those shitty paranormal "reality" shows on Discovery if you want that. The most brilliant horror has always been about the human element, not the monster.

i'm not really sure what else it's supposed to be advertised as? if it's not a horror/zombie series then should it be advertised completely bereft of it those qualities?

I find the scariest parts of horror movies/TV shows are the waits until the scary thing appears.

I often have to leave the room while my husband and I are watching The Walking Dead during the pre-zombie build-ups. I find waiting for the inevitable fucking terrifying.

During the actual zombie attack scenes I'm absolutely fine.

I didn't like the double prayer soliloquy premiere though. Zero tension and it was stupid to do it twice in one episode, especially a premiere episode.

Except it is a horror/zombie series, focused around characters learning to deal with it and trying to survive. It's like Heroes, which used to be about characters learning how to cope with powers and 'fitting in' with real people. Then it changed its premise because people like you complained about it and it became about powers powers powers and Sylar Sylar Sylar. It was all downhill from there.

Get the head out of your rectum. That being said, I'm not complaining about anything. I'm simply saying peeps shouldn't get butthurt when others ask, 'where are the damn zombies?' They think it's a du jour zombie/horror flick, and why blame them when it's advertised as one?

Again, who can look at me in the eye and tell me with a straight face they care for the other characters? Know what that's called? A shitty script. Not about the zombies or the 'human experience,' it's shittyass writing.

Shitty ass writing all the way from an award-winning 9 year old comic that made it to the small screen which is currently the highest viewed, record-shattering ( also award-winning ) show on cable networks.

But don't let that stop your baw bawwwing. Carry on..

yo i dig the show but like i said, 2 eps in and there's already gaps. the first 'season' had zombies galore and even though it was only the intro i suppose i'm still expecting it to be zombies galore. i can get with it and let there be character development and all that jazz.

that all being said the whole fucking scene at the school was ridiculous, could have been done a better imo. and what happened to zombies being able to smell them? wasn't that something they laid out in the first season? zombies can smell humans? what was the whole point in dressing in zombies blood and guts if they can just hide under/behind cars.

we went over this in the first episode and kirkman addressed it already.

They're not bloodhounds they don't gain supernatural smelling abilities. They smell like we smell in that they can tell whats alive and whats dead

If it were "zombies galore" all episode, every episode, we would soon be watching a TV version of Resident Evil rather than The Walking Dead. I don't think it's just about the zombies, but also regular people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Of course, these people (at least in this season's episode 1, I've not watched episode 2 yet) don't appear to have any survival sense or even common sense when it comes to day to day survival.

Personally, I like the human story element to the show. My only worry is that there will be too many "tender kid moments" with Rick's pasty-faced unlikable son (who, I am told, is quite the badass in the comics).

    And I like Daryl.

I wish Daryl was Rick's son instead. I like comic Carl way better. I just think it is down to the character's super obnoxiousness though. Or I hate the actor. Either way, I was happy the deer shot his ass.

Lol, I wouldn't bring up 'award winning' when the only shit they have under their belt is for make up, who were they up against, the Kardashians? I ain't bashing no comic books because I'll never read them. Anyway, you're barking up the wrong tree. I liked the first season, but answer my q baby, do you really give a shit for the rest of the cast? The mum from the Mist who literally plays the same fucking role? Were you heart-broken when the little girl got lost or w/e? What about the token black guy? The old white chick? The other cop? The first season was good, but is not the second coming like some of you make it out to be.

If they killed off everyone except Rick, Glenn and Daryl I don't think anyone would care.

For some reason people expect so much when a comic/game/book gets adapted to the big screen. Fanatics need to relax and be glad that nowadays fellow fanatics are writing these adaptation and be glad it ain't like the shit that came out 10 years ago.

    This.

People can hide behind the bullshit that "it's more tehn zombies, its about character development adn drama!!!" all they want. At the end of the day, no one gives a fucking rats ass for most of the other characters. The fucking dumbass daughter should've gotten eaten up, the annoying blonde who lost her sister should've blown her head off by now, the token black guy needs to shut the fuck up and just disappear already, and the boy should've died when he got shot staring at a deer in an area with walkers lurking about.

There, I just made the second season infinitely better.

Who said anything about special effects? I merely suggested to get rid of the characters who ultimately amount to nothing but filler to make the 40~ minute mark per episode. How is that cheap?

Ha it was just a joke, (fewer actors to pay, cheaper show to make?) nothing more. I like the show for what it is, glaring problems and all. It still entertains me more than it annoys me at this point. If that ratio shifts hugely, I may just stick to the comic. I quite liked the last episode though.

I agree that Rick, Daryl, and Glenn are the top characters in the show. I think if they kept those three, plus Dale and the blond woman whose sister was killed (these two are decent characters but should not be "mains"), they could kill everyone else off. The five of them together would be the most "believable" as the survivors of a zombie apocalypse who travel together and try to continue to survive. Sadly, five people is too few characters for a one hour drama/horror TV series however.
