You could have a smaller main cast who come across other survivors from time to time, however, for people to survive that long they'd also need to be about as smart as the smart main cast and not get into stupid situations.

Which could possibly be hitting upon the reason a TV horror series hasn't gone long term before. It's just too unbelievable for people to survive.

That means we would get more episodes about faux gangsters protecting their grandparents. Which, as we all know, is the pinnacle of excellent writing in The Walking Dead because Robert-Motherfucking-Kirkman wrote that episode.

At the end of the day, no one gives a fucking rats ass for most of the other characters. The fucking dumbass daughter should've gotten eaten up, the annoying blonde who lost her sister should've blown her head off by now, the token black guy needs to shut the fuck up and just disappear already, and the boy should've died when he got shot staring at a deer in an area with walkers lurking about.

All I'm saying is that whole episodes shouldn't be dedicated to some dumbass kid no one gives a fuck about. "Character development time" would be better spent on the other characters whom people have already mentioned countless times in this page alone.

Character development time would also be better spent watching said child no one gives a fuck about getting eaten by zombies, and then subsequently devouring her mother as she inevitably tries to pry the child from their zombie maws, instead of coddling viewers with the hope that a child might survive alone in a fucking zombie apocalypse. If that child is alive I'm gonna be seriously pissed off. Two episodes now they haven't found her, get on with it already.

I'm not one to say the entire show should be nothing but filled with zombies, I understand it's about the plight of the survivors, but FFS at least center on the people who actually have a decent chance of survival instead of a child who is likely to be zombie hors d'oeuvres after 2 days alone(assuming each ep is at least a day).

The thing I didn't understand about the mother-kid getting lost storyline is that the mother was very docile while Rick's wife held her silent when the zombie spotted the girl. I don't think that would have really happened. She would have gotten loose and either attacked the zombie or drew it away. Plus, I don't think she would have stayed on the highway while the men looked for her daughter, she would have gone into the woods, whether they wanted to her or not. She was just too passive and inactive during the whole thing. I think the fear of her daughter being killed would have trumped her fear of the zombies and prompted her to be slightly more useful than what she was. This is, after all, a woman who has managed to survive several weeks (if not months) after a full scale zombie apocalypse. She must have some sort of survival skills in her.

Also, it made zero sense for the girl to just climb out right away after the zombies went away. Even if she was too scared to understand Rick's instructions she probably would have processed the spot under the log as safe from zombies since the zombies went away and therefore stayed put a bit longer.

Other than that, yeah, two episodes, kill the kid off and probably the mother and move on with the other characters. There simply has not been enough Glenn and Daryl.

Previews of this weeks ep seem to show some more Daryl as they continue the search for little whats her name.. so her getting lost isnt all that bad.
