Just caught up and i have to say that Neagan is straight up the most frustrating villain i have seen for television. Want to punch that face of his when i see him smile like that, so well done to the actor!
Spoiler: show
yah, it was hilltop
The consensus in the Reddit forums seems to be "I" "East". like Interstate East, which is assumed to lead to where Darrel is held, to "The Kingdom" or sanctuary.

I think the point is that Rick just lost what was his oldest friend in this world... only person he's known longer than Glenn would be Carl... oh and Morgan... I take it as he's trying to NOT lose anyone else. Directly fight back against Negan and some of Rick's people WILL die. If unsuccessful, they all die.
Bow down and take it in the ass for a time and his people get to live, until they can form a realistic means of fighting back without being drastically outnumbered.
I would agree that the easiest way to end the threat would be a sniper posted to take out Negan when he came to collect... but that makes boring tv.
Not to mention they don't even know how large Negan's group or even where their main location is but they do know they have more firepower and resources just going off how they were able to impede their progress to Hilltop. Negan has the upperhand in everything atm.
Book spoiler on Negan's methods.
Spoiler: show
They've definitely been hitting up the "charismatic and scary" part of Negan for the last two episodes. And planted the seeds for Negan's next big moment which I think will come at or before the mid season finale.
Comic spoiler/possible show spoiler:
Spoiler: show
I mentioned it up above. I'm thinking it's gonna be for the mid season finale.
That doesn't feel monumental enough to me for a mid-season finale.
Spoiler: show
This episode reminded me that only first and last episode of the season anything interesting happens. So fucking boring. I love JDM but it's just too much Negan
There's no such thing as too much Negan.
^
Episode was fantastic. Idk how anyone could think that was boring.
This week's episode was super fucking slow. Basically nothing happened until the very last scene.
Goddammit, not this shit again. Just when I thought some consistency was going to happen.
We're six (seven?) seasons in, at this point the people expecting wall-to-wall walker murder every episode are retarded.
I don't expect that but the entire episode, as far as anything that moved the plot forward, could be summed up by the last scene. Could have just watched that last scene and saved myself 40 minutes, and still not missed anything relevant.
