Basically. The avenue of the baby could have been excellent. It's an interesting problem. The issue is, those problems are never actually addressed. It was all just combed over quickly so Glen and that other chick could hook up. There are no consequences. There is no cause and effect. Now on the flip side, the first season had scenes like Earl getting trapped on the roof top. This scene had immediate moral consequences within the group. It had story progression. It had character strife and eventual character progression. Events leading to other events. Events leading into a story.

No, boo is right. You just have a pathetically underdeveloped attention span.

Considering I'm currently sticking out this season despite the fact that I know full well that I'm currently not enjoying the direction it's taking, I'd say my attention span is pretty much beyond reproach. If I had zero attention span, I'd simply walk away despite enjoying the first season.

I was afraid that this half was going to be "holy shit lori is lost let's go find her LOL turns out she was in the car the whole time and is already turned but now Carl gets to shoot her".

Despite my complaints about the direction the show is taking I'll still be watching it until they take it off the air. I just hope it doesn't turn out like Prison Break. First season was phenomenal, then as soon as the writers had to focus on life outside the prison the show went to shit. And fast. That's the risk you take when change the direction of a show.

I'll be honest I would be ok with the zombies only being the setting if the characters where deeper. Almost every character of the show seems to only have one facet to them, and come off as rather bland in dialog heavy episodes.

I feel like the comic is more about the characters than zombie killing, so that clearly carries over to the show. Can it be slow and boring sometimes? Yes. I think that the main problem is that the characters on the show need to be more interesting. I think aside from Shane, Rick, Glenn and Maggie most of the characters are boring or one dimensional, as you guys have pointed out a shit ton of times already.

And if you are mad because there's not enough zombie killing, in my opinion at least, you may be missing the point.

That “Triggerfinger” began with her unconscious body being menaced by a toothy walker, desperate to crack open her smashed sedan shell and devour Mrs. Grimes like a succulent walnut, was another epic misread by the producers. The scene got us exercised, all right, but not out of terror. I was frustrated that I couldn’t leap into the screen with a crowbar and help the brain-dead geek snack in peace.

But unless a star-crossed Korean couple and an Iraqi torturer parachute into Hershel’s farm, we’re stuck with these squabbling zeroes for the foreseeable future. And as long as that’s the case it will lead to all sorts of character-based confusion, like rooting for Shane over Rick, despite the former being a half-cocked rage monster, and preferring the idea of Lori providing strength and succor to a peckish zombie than to her own living family.

I honestly think people keep saying this because of how bad the writing is. I'm sure most everyone in this thread appreciates a good drama when it's done well, but when all the characters play caricatures of their "role" in the show, it comes off as insulting. If they're going to cater to the lowest common denominator with writing, they might as well go all the way with the action as well. It's really upsetting too, because I like the comics. I read them as the hardcover books come out, and each one is just as good as the last. It's a shame the show can't figure out how to do the story just as well (and yes I think the show would be served better by following the comic's story).

I can totally see what you mean. If the characters are gonna be one dimensional like characters in a shitty action movie, the show might as well pack in the zombie killing and action? I definitely can't disagree with that.

Sidenote, I just finished the fifth hardcover of the comics (up through issue #60) and I absolutely love it. Like most of you, I'm waiting (hoping) for the show to be just as amazing.

I'll kinda confused as to how AMC ran into such big financial troubles. They have 3 of the most buzzworthy shows of the last 5 years, and the movies they have license to are largely semi-old, middling titles that I can't think would cost too much to acquire. Did they just spend too much on producing their shows? I have to think they have some prime adspace to sell.
