I liked how during Comic Book Men next week's preview they having him doing an "Aw hell naw" line. Maybe they can finally just start calling him Token next season.

Am I the only one pissed by the fact that the group keeps losing good guns for stupid reasons lately? Shane loses their only shotty, and a damned good one at that, last episode on a stupid Rick paladin quest to let the kid go free, and now Daryl loses a freakin sweet sidearm thanks to the idiot boy not having enough daily chores to do to keep his ass busy. Seriously? A kid that age has NO chores to do? If I were Rick, I'd have made the boy become Hershel's errand bitch around the farm, not simply to keep the boy busy and "learn em something useful" (like how to fucking farm in a world befift of technology), but also as a show of goodwill to Hershel, who, as of right now, performs essentially all of the grunt-work of maintaining the supply of food for the entire group (aside from Daryl).
Fucking hell. My brother and I were going nuts watching this spoiled kid basically run around wherever he wanted without a single goddamn chore to do on a huge-ass farm, when EVERYONE ELSE seemingly has something to do to contribute. Fuck, go sweep floor, or learn how to milk a cow or something.
Still, its nice to know that someone's blood is on the kid's morbid little hands at this point.
if this follows the comics

Why is everyone hating on Carl so bad lol...he actually gets some character development and people go herp derp
Oh I forgot there was only 1 zombie this entire show and there should be like 20 billion and everyone should be getting bit.
That has nothing to do with why I'm pissed at Carl, but thanks for assuming!
Carl repeatedly broke the rules set by many people today, and seems to have the shortest memory in the show. Wasn't he just shot and on death's hit-list maybe a month or two ago? You'd think after surviving a near-fatal bullet, he'd have some kind of aversion to guns, or at least, to stealing someone else's gun and wandering off in a walker-infested world.
Its not just Carl I'm pissed off at, though. This show is starting to become predictable with the direction of the writers. They're writing people into doing stupid stuff, simply to allow the plot to advance. When you force plot-movement like this, it comes off cheesy and, well, forced. You've got the writers attempting to tease the viewer with a "near-kidnap" of Carl in the beginning of the episode, then you've got a 8-year-old kid going all rebellious teenager in the middle, then you have him playing with a zombie after stealing yet another extremely valuable resource (the goddamn gun). Both times he screws up without his parents around, he either begs for someone not to tell his parents (instantly reverting back into the hopeless child trope), or tells no one that he saw a walker, presumably because he didn't want to get into trouble.
Why isn't a kid his age doing chores? Hell, if there's nobody around to watch him, have T-Dawg babysit him. Its not like he's doing anything else relevant to the plot these days anyway.
People hate on him because the kid delivers his lines like a fucking plank. He is to Carl what Jake Llyod was to Anakin Skywalker.
On a separate note, I was reading the AV Club's review of this episode and had a hearty lol at this:
Stray observations:
T-Dog has one line in this episode, and someone interrupts him. This is embarrassing. He’s worse off than Carl. At least people occasionally talk to Carl.
Our biggest complaint of the episode was actually Carl and his sudden asshole behavior. I wouldn't call it development. Daryl is probably the only one to do that. It's almost like the writers spend do much time focusing on the main characters of a scene that they forget about the other characters that are there.
I still liked the episode though. I knew Carl would cause the walker to come after him but I didn't think Dale would be killed.
I don't know why people are raging about Carl. Ten-year-old kids do stupid shit all the time. Even when they're told not to. He pretty much has an absent father since Rick is too busy handling other people's problems, so he is rebelling.
The more you tell a kid to not do something, the more they will try and do it. In this case, Carl gets Dale killed. The kid is reckless and immature because he's so young. He won't do the most logical thing in a Zombie apocalypse because he doesn't really know anything. Yeah, he should be doing chores and staying out of trouble, but kids his age don't do that.
As for the ripping Dale open part (I kind of lol'd at it), Nicotero said on Walking Dead the zombie's hands were boney/sharp, making it way easier to tear into Dale's tub of lard. (As for why Dale didn't see the zombie, farm's are really dark at night. Plus he's old and probably doesn't have the best vision. If he wasn't really paying attention to his peripheral vision then he could easily not have noticed it.)
Kids do stupid-shit all the time, which is why you put their asses to WORK. He's on a goddamn farm; there's plenty to do.
This is all fine and dandy except the show specifically shows it's a full moon, the viewer gets a wide view of the field and you see clearly (several times) there isn't anything wrong with his hands. Also the zombie doesn't make any noise until Dale turns around, so apparently they're cognizant needing to sneak up on prey as well. So just turning into a zombie on it's own turns your finger bones into razors which can penetrate a person's flesh but not your own decaying hands? Look, I'm not trying be pedantic, but the scene was damn near episode ruining stupid with how it all played out; it might as well been another well scene for me. Considering he's the one that directed the damn episode, it might behoove him to review what he chose to film before he gives an answer contrary to is shown.
And before someone calls me out on, yes I'm mad and raging on this one. It was the first episode where I thought they were going to have their cake and eat it too, that we were finally seeing the show start to live up to the comics' standard, then it all came apart in such a horribly idiotic manner.
*About Carl
I actually am not upset with him wandering around, because as other people have pointed out (or maybe it was the AV Club review) he's the last kid and what the fuck else. Yes he should probably be doing chores, and maybe off screen the last few episodes he has been, but this episode he keeps getting shuffled from one adult to the next and we've seen him start to become much more adverse to authority and independent. My issue with hims stems from the fact he can't act worth a shit.
TV drama, suspended disbelief, etc etc etc.
Edit: Also, suspended disbelief for TT. Lost did some pretty silly stuff, too. Gotta roll with the punches.
And yeah, it'd be ideal if Carl got put to work, but he keeps slipping through the cracks because of all the other shiz people are dealing with.
Maybe T-Dog can watch him though, since he doesn't do much.
I really want to like this show, but goddamn every week is an exercise in stupidity. It's been a while since I read the comics, but the group wasn't this dumb right? Or maybe the stupidity is spread out over longer and not condensed. I don't know what it is, but it's annoying. The usual complaints of shitty pacing apply. The problem with suspending disbelief is that there's a limit which TWD reached a long time ago and everything else is just pushing it.
Daryl is like the only good thing about the show. Also, why couldn't T-Dog die? It's not like he's the only black person left on earth.
i know it's not the same "series" but near the very beginning of World War Z the strength of a zombie's grip is compared to steel... i know we've all heard of "retard strength" before... i don't see the bare-handed tearing open of old man Dale as something that ridiculous (if you want to go on and then complain about Lori or Carl escaping that steel grip on their legs, sure go for it). i do agree that this show has (more every week) many problems and logical mistakes, but complaining about things like that or how the "disease" works seems like a waste of time. not hearing it approach in an open field sure, i agree that part is stupid, along with a kid with a hole through his leg simply limping around, etc.

So yeah people bitching about Carl wandering where ever are going to far. You should be bitching about the fact the kid can't act and his character as a whole has no depth whatsoever.
You guys set the bar for child actors way too high. We all know the kid who plays Carl will never be able to acheive the greatness that is Edward Furlong in Terminator 2, but that doesn't mean he isn't a badass.
Nobody is looking for an award winning performance here. But for the love of God, have more then a single blank stare for every single scene.
