    Itunes won't open

Ok, so I've been having this problem w/ itunes for a while now. It'll start when I first log into windows after a restart, but let's say I unplug my ipod and listen to some music, plug it back in to put a new song on, it won't open until I restart again. It's getting pretty annoying to have to restart every time I want to add a song, so is there anything i can do to fix this?

it's likely getting hung up for some reason. Try ejecting the ipod via itunes before unplugging it. Also, when it won't open, go to the task manager and browse the running processes. If you see itunes, manually end it and then you should be able to open it again without rebooting.

Do you eject the ipod first before unplugging it?

Also, do you have itunes set to auto launch when a supported device is connected? If so, turn it off, that tends to hang it for some reason.

Have tried that. I'd end process and then I'd try to open it again, would show right back up on the list, but do nothing.

This I'll have to try. It is set on auto

After the last iTunes update I had major issues with iTunes freezing and crashing. I turned off autodetect and autosync, and told it not to search for AppleTV or remote speakers. I then manually synced my iPod and iPhone, which took a very long time to "verify," but after they both finally synced once after the update, all seems normal again.

Well just installed the new version, idk if it installing over the other one counts (never actually uninstalled it). Was having this problem before the update as well.

God I've had this problem and a multitude of others as well. iTunes fucking blows. It plays mp3s horribly too ever since iTunes 8. If it wasn't a convenient (using this loosely now) way to backup my iPhone I would uninstall this shit in a god damn heartbeat. Worst program ever. Winamp blows this shit away. Thing doesn't even play .flac.

If reinstalling over it doesn't work (it never has for me!), uninstall the thing, restart, and fresh install. That has solved a few problems in my past with this PoS appl.
