I bought it and found it to be pretty decent. Nothing spectacular, but kinda fun once you get a ways in.

This game has become one of my favourite.. the story is great and very touching.. and New Game+ is absolutely heartwrenching.. some scenes actually made me cry and sometimes I even had to turn off my Ps3..
The soundtrack is the very best I have ever heard in a videogame..
The only downside is the subpar graphics.. but I've heard somewhere that the game was originally intended to be released on Ps2.. but honestly I couldn't care less about that..
just picked this up at Kmart for $19.99, the 360 version is supposed to be less buggy than the ps3 right? Really excited to finally get to play it, I have a feeling that even though it's not perfect I'll end up loving it
I didn't really experience any bugs that I remember in the ps3 version. Just a drop in framerate when there were tons of smaller enemies on the screen. Either way I found the game to be awesome despite the repetitive combat.
Haven't played the game, but I like the soundtrack.
Yeah im not too far into this, but this has one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a while, some really good stuff here.
So far this game is pretty neat, graphics are nothing special but it's certainly unique and does well to satisfy my action RPG itch. Story makes no sense, but that's why it's so good I guess. Characters/voice work is pretty good too I guess
So I'm up to the Barren Temple currently and was wondering if there are any missables? I don't plan on doing every sidequest on my first playthrough unless they give worthy items and equipment.
Lv11 normal right now. Dark Lance feels a little op at times with magic drop.
This walking only, and no magic, part of this puzzle fucking sucks.
ed1: At the 5 years later part. God damn some shit went down before that.

Yosuke Saito had this to say:
Question 3: Said that a number of things related to NieR are in progress. Also (and it's not clear if this has anything to do with NieR) Saito said there could be a big announcement next year. Regarding this, there are many things that he'd like to say but can't.
Spoiler: show
Just finished this, played through to ending b. said screw it to C and D and just youtubed them. was already one shotting pretty much everything so it was getting boring. Fun game over all though. Quests were super generic though =/ Fighting with a two handed sword made me feel like guts from berzerk, so that was a bonus.
Just before the 5 year break was the coolest part of the whole game.
I hope it's something good

Was posted back on Dec 31st but it still mentions something will happen this year for Nier.
The sound track alone is just rediculously awesome. I would play it just for the music lol.
Recently started playing this and I have to say it's pretty interesting.
Graphics aren't as terrible as I have read, though they're closer to high-end PS2 than PS3. I'd say they're on the same level as FFXII, which is still fine since that game has pretty amazing graphics for a PS2 title.
I like how the game is purposely designed to be a mishmash of various other games such as Zelda, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, text adventures, MMORPGs and so on, it's a cool and interesting experiment and keeps the game fresh. Even the camera does a great job at making each section feel different from the others.
Game is fast paced, it has good replay value and the soundtrack, VA and story are great.
The problem I have with the game is that it could have been more. The battle system is ok but nothing to write home about, most of the quests are generic "collect X amount of Y" and the game feels overall somewhat unpolished.
It could just be that it was an experiment so they purposely held back this time. Hopefully this is the start of a new great franchise.
I'm going through for the second ending atm, this game has consistently made me say "Wow, that's cool!" when getting to new areas or finding out how they want you to do something. The secondary play through (of which there are two more) has already thrown in a bunch of new cutscenes. Picked this up for $20 on a lark, and have been entirely impressed.
Thinking of tackling this once I finish Resonance of Fate on PS3.
I found it new at Gamestop one day for $15. Kind of made me double take. I took it up to the counter just to make sure the price wasn't a joke.
I did try to play it a few nights (after being burned out from RoF), but it didn't quite get my attention (to be fair, it was pretty late at night and I was having a hard time staying awake). Looking forward to it, but what are these supposed PS3 bugs?
For anyone who gives a shit, the Piano Collection OST came out recently. Feels weird without the vocals on some tracks but they're obviously still fuckawesome unsurprisingly.
