This right here more or less sums up why I was concerned with merging standard back with advanced when it happened. In standard, crappy questions mainly just slumped to the bottom of the list. People also were more willing to ask general questions there. Here, if you ask a question people direct you to the random question or what's better thread. Unfortunately, a decent bit of stuff gets ignored there even when they're good questions because it's just too freaking cluttered.

I know my opinion is largely (see completely) worthless around here but it just feels we're back at a less bad version of the pre-merger advanced only this time, there is no bastion for newbish learning.

    This is newbish learning?

The point of the merger is that the game is so far into it's life that nobody really need standard any more. And if they do..well..do it somewhere else.

There is a correlation to these two statements.

The great thing about Random/What's Better is you can ask again. Or if you see a question that isn't getting answered, you can answer yourself.

Eh, it was more that Standard was working so well we made Stanvanced. Which works great, with applied shitcanning.

A number of the good questions I've seen, I don't exactly know the answer to in order to answer them myself. Also, being required to repeatedly ask a question just to try and get your voice heard amongst all the other people gets exceptionally frustrating and if the answer is "just ask again" then the thread will just get extra cluttered from everyone spamming their question repeatedly.

Meh, like I said, I know my opinion doesn't matter worth a damn, but I've missed the standard section immensely since its demise. I don't think I've once gotten a worthwhile answer out of either of those threads.

I don't know what else to say since you've stated twice that your opinion isn't worth anything. I'll assume you're the best judge of that.

Eh, same thing. Well, what I stated is pretty much the reason..never mind I don't even know how to explain what I mean.

    WE ARE ALL ADVANCED NOW

give a 15min warning, and ask the leader does he want me to get someone else or does he wish to do it himself.

if they suck to an offensive level i let the leader know which members are crap and drop PT.

I would figure this is pretty straight forward.

If party has been horrible, I d/c or just leave (could be with derogatory remarks)
If party has been worthwhile, I send the leader a tell that I have to go soon to let them decide to keep going if and get a replacement that they think is best.

The only thing worse than heading out as a replacement and the party breaks is joining a horrible party as a replacement.

video game or not, it's not up to us to educate someone how to withdraw from a group of people. that's called parenting; most of which is bad.

That's practically the same thing as leaving without warning except worse. The party wastes more time predicting if you are coming back or not.

I don't know about the rest of the people posting but when people leave without at least 20 minute warning, don't stay for at least over an hour and half, fake DC (especially this one), or all of the above. Then I just don't invite you again because your only going to be wasting the parties time and screwing our exp/hr.

Leaving at the last minute because an HNM popped and you just joined a PT is just as gay as well.

Newbs replacing newbs piss me off the most because when people rep themselves they don't know how to filter out the tards seeking and get the wrong jobs so they can just leave. Don't rep yourself ever unless the PT leader is dumb enough to trust you enough to let you. Bards repping themselves with SMNs is RAGE

There's been very few times I've left a pt because someone was so terrible I couldn't take it, but on every time I have said in pt why I am leaving and just who the gimp/idiot in question is. There's been times when it worked to my advantage and the leader kicked the offending gimp and replaced him, rather than replacing me. There's also been "QQ you're an elitist QQ" times, but fuck 'em.

30-15 min warning if I'm a member, 1 hour if I'm leader, I never rep myself unless asked.

And honestly, this is a very "Alla" question.

I only read threads where I'm looking for information on this forum It's great information. But I was unaware that there's a hierarchy related to all this thread creation, I assumed it was just safe to put in Advanced because it said Advanced-Standard. Again, Sorry. I didn't mean to cause trouble. I was gonna lean toward General but then that said non FFXI related. I just guess this isn't the place for newbie questions. Thanks for directing me to Alla I haven't thought of posting there cause I've pretty much forgotten about the site XD

I realize that asking about such a small trivial question like XPing is very newbieish, but the responses are interesting (and amusing ). When I XP with most of my friends we never find replacements, but it seems like it's the norm for pickup parties... And since most people play endgame on this thread / XP much longer than I assume most of the "pickup people" I see, I trust your experiences more than my own assumptions.

I've been arguing less for the sake of supporting this question itself (have seen it a million times anyways) than I have been for the platform for people to be able to ask questions that many think are newbish or simply are not new information by itself. This platform used to exist.

Let me provide an example of more of what I'm talking about. I asked this question almost verbatim in the random question thread recently. It was completely ignored there. In the old standard, it would not have been.

You can lol alla all you want, but I bet a get a more worthwhile answer in the end from there, with a much faster turn around, than I end up with here with the current system. In the end, once I get my answer, I can hopefully start providing more information that others might consider worthy of "advanced" to everyone, but until then, I'm getting my questions answered at alla. I'm willing to sift through plenty of the random +1ing or idiocy if it means getting a worthwhile answer.

Newbish learning? You need someone to teach you how to leave a party in a considerate and diplomatic fashion? How about you teach yourself some social skills instead?

If the party fails I just straight up leave, and me usually being on bard, it doesn't have many lasting effects, as I can usually get in on another party in about 5 seconds - 5 minutes
