Let me provide an example of more of what I'm talking about. I asked this question almost verbatim in the random question thread recently. It was completely ignored there. In the old standard, it would not have been.

You can lol alla all you want, but I bet a get a more worthwhile answer in the end from there, with a much faster turn around, than I end up with here with the current system. In the end, once I get my answer, I can hopefully start providing more information that others might consider worthy of "advanced" to everyone, but until then, I'm getting my questions answered at alla. I'm willing to sift through plenty of the random +1ing or idiocy if it means getting a worthwhile answer.

Do you want me to listen to this or the part where you insisted your opinion didn't matter? I'll guess it's the former.

The platform you're talking about does exist. The Random Question thread / What's Better is there to answer things that are a one-post answerable question. How do this effect my 6-hit? Where can I go to [x]? Things that do not require their own thread. You've mentioned clutter. Standard was incredibly cluttered (I had to mod it). Because How does this effect my 6-hit? or any other variation was being asked every couple of days.

Keeping everything in an easy-to-access sticky, where you won't get snapped at for repeating a question (unless it was two posts above you), and that gets closed-and-recycled every 50 pages, is much easier. There are a number of people on this board who practically live there, and god bless, they answer really fucking quickly. As mentioned before, if your question isn't answered it's most likely a) been answer very recently, b) easily found out via Your Wiki Of Choice or Google, or, dun dun dun, c) there are no available operators who can take your question at this time. Please hold, or try again later.

A lot of people shit their panties when Stanvanced was merged. Fuck, I did too, at first. I'd reichfucked as many people as I could to make Standard not suck. But what it did was annihilate a good chunk of the "plenty of the random +1ing or idiocy" that you say you'll tolerate in order to get an answer, which had the added bonus of making Stanvanced... not suck.

If you don't like the format, I can't exactly sympathize, as it is working out really well for pretty much everyone else. And you have, as mentioned, plenty of other options. I liked Standard too. Because it was the Random Question thread / What's Better. Now we have those threads, and now I like those. This is not a forum for how I shot. This is BG, act like you know.

I agreed with most of what you said in your post, except for this. Bards are not exactly a dime a dozen. Often, the party breaks when I have to leave, because the melee will NOT EXP WITHOUT A BARD. It's funny. The people who won't xp without a BRD, are usually the people who don't even have the job leveled.

When I seek on bard, I have a /seacom up that says "Level Sync, No Thanks, 6/6 Runic Portal, World, TP Burn only" only to have some idiot send me a /tell "Level Sync 65 Do You Need It?" I usually ignore the person, but do people even bother to read fucking seacoms anymore? D:

Back to what the OP's topic - if the party sucks, I just tell them honestly, that I'm going to leave. I'm not a douche about it, but I'll be honest instead of "fake DCing" or telling them they suck - a "This isn't working out for me guys, I'm gonna disband, take care!" is what I'll say.

Last but not the least - while we're on the subject of party etiquette, MELEE, PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR FUCKING WINDSLICERS OR BREAK YOUR LATENTS IN EXP. Do it on your own, with a friend, please.

To answer the OP, my reaction depends on the party itself. Generally when it comes to parties, I'm not too picky since there is rarely enough ppl on my LS to make a merit party at any given time other than Salvage, so I take what I can get.

If it's a decent party, I'll give 30 minute notice. I won't ever replace myself unless asked. If I am asked to do so and I cannot find someone on my job seeking, I'll usually get anybody to come out. IMO a responsible party leader will find their own replacement if they choose to go that route since it's their XP on the line at that point. Not mine.

If the party is shit, I'll just warp or fake D/C if I don't feel like playing FFXI anymore that day. Case in point, I accepted an invite from a SMN over the weekend (I was desperate to get 80) who decides we'll xp off of cointeaches in BCD_S. I run ahead and say that there is a trio clearing all the mobs by the Nue tower, but he insists we go anyways. So, they make their way up and unsurprisingly get aggro. The SMN dies. So we start killing getting like 100 xp/kill when the SMN realizes that he forgot his allied ring and wanted to go back to town and get it. He does and on his way back gets aggro and dies again. At this point I just close windower without a shred of remorse.

Are you still going on about this idiocy? We won't EXP without a bard because EXPing without a bard is not worth our time.

Enhancers, much like healers and damage-dealers, are a necessity of productivity. Stop acting like people who enjoy being productive are the devil.

    Deja vu.

Normally, i give a warning and let the leader rep me, and then when it's time to leave, i'll just leave, unless a rep is already on the way, then i'll wait till they get there.

    That is soooo not true.

And are you still going on about I MUST NEED 2X BRD or COR PARTIES OR I GTFO? I realize that the xp will not be as efficient or plentiful, but 2x BRD/COR parties are not that commonplace - read: that it is not a normal occurrence.

I could put in my seacom as a bard that I won't pull, that I won't xp without another bard/cor, or I won't party with paladins, puppetmasters, dancers, or rangers. PLDs won't make anyone forget about SAMs or DRGS, Rangers whine about not getting double minuets, and let's face it, pups and dncs aren't what I would call damage dealers. I'll XP with any of those jobs, until it becomes apparent that those jobs cannot pull their weight, simple as that.

I can make the argument that XPing with whatever job is not worth my time, especially on bard. If you're lvling PLD and I say no to your party invite, don't whine or cry about it, because PLD tank parties are gimping MY EXP.

Not the devil, just really annoying.

Probably safe to go ahead and close this thread. OP has already asked over at alla and is getting useful answers there.

Dancer is not a Damage Dealer. It is a support/DD hybrid that gives haste, stuns, cures, and erases.

How many years on from WotG release, and people still lump dnc in with DDs? :/

edit - oh and eva/defence down to mobs too.
