Just curious because occasionally I actually do seek for XP. ^^
...just leave the party / fake DC!
...give the party leader advance notice and just leave.
...look for a replacement that has the same/similar job as yours
...just look for any random guy to replace you.
Just curious because occasionally I actually do seek for XP. ^^
Like everything else in the game, shit's situational.
The one thing that I never do is find someone to replace me.
That's funny, because I occasionally read Advanced for useful information.
What are the different situations in your experience?
Good or bad party?
Party with friends?
Types of mobs fighting?
Or it's not as black and white as all that?
I don't XP with a lot of pickups so I just don't want to be rude, but then again sometimes when I look for a replacement after I give them advance notice, they already had a friend lined up and then it gets all bleh from there
Oh sorry T_T. I usually just reply to posts and rarely actually make my own posts... I try to put it in the right area (and occasionally I get the helpful pointer), I guess this should be under more "general discussion?" ... but that says it's non-FFXI related.
What you never do is give advance warning that you are going to leave and then replace yourself. If you are going to rep yourself (often appreciated if you are an essential job) then do so when you announce you're leaving and tell them there is a rep on the way.
I generally find people are fine with others repping themselves as long as the rep isn't a stupid choice for the party dynamics of the leader isn't a chromosome short of normal.
Oh okayI guess any regular question polls are always out of the question now for this place... I remember when there was a standard thread and we could just post there, and I read "advanced - the new standard"... and I just figured since everyone's back into XPing now it would be a good idea to get some feel for how other people respond to people leaving parties. I'm sorry to cause such a ruckus. Please just delete the thread then ^^;
As I said, if people are that interested in story time, it can stay open for a bit.
What was the point of getting rid of standard if we're going to start calling out people for not asking advanced questions again? Useful conversation was coming about in standard from people asking newbish questions, where they weren't afraid to do so. For some people, this useful conversation can involve aspects of the game beyond gear and mechanics.
I tell them they're shit and then disband. I walk away slowly, but never turn my character around to look back at the idiots I left behind.
There is a difference between "What's the best way to go about [game mechanic]" and "Are you a jerk y/n circle one". You're not new, and should probably remember that Standard was a bastion for information, and I shitcanned just about anyone who fucked that up. I'm immensely pleased with Advanced post-Update, the information that has been coming out is fantastic, people aren't being asshats, and pretty much every thread is solid gold. How to type /pcmd leave is not gold.
I am a fan of the random JP {Have stuff to do, got to go!}{Last Boss} and disband.
I pull a massive link, in hopes of killing them all. By the time everyone is dead, the PUP I replaced myself with should be at camp.
Well, it seems we have reached a conclusion: everyone does shit their own way.
This thread is now about how you make shit people leave your otherwise-good party.
If I'm in a terrible party I just say "Holy crap, cat's on fire g2g..." and /pcmd leave immediately. If it's a decent/good party I will usually /t the party leader and let them know when I need to leave and ask if they want to find a rep or if I should.
You're missing the "I only exp with LS members and we go until we disband" option.
i wonder how many people feel uncomfortable replacing themselves in a bad party? i feel bad to leave a group in the lurch but when the xp is terrible i feel even worse to drag someone new out there. in a good party i try to rep myself with the same job, in a bad party i usually announce i'm leaving in 10 minutes and that i'm unable to find a rep.
Right, that's what I usually do XD I'm under the assumption that that's what everyone who XPs with just LS mates do.But people have been quitting left and right or been too busy and stuff, yadda yadda.
I was faced with that decision recently too, and one of the only other people seeking around the level range was a friend I knewBut then the party before that I was scolded at because I didn't find a replacement for myself. But when I respond with "other people do this and that" they respond back saying it's rude.
I used to Virelai Colibris then DC.
