and can I save my current FF3 bookmarks and import them to FF4?
My bookmarks from FF3 were in FF4 as soon as I opened it.
F1 doesn't open up a new tab for me anymore in 4.0![]()
Control T still works but I know how being used to a certain keystroke is
And here I was thinking F1 was only good for opening a Help Menu.....
(on Windows anyway)
woah that's awesome, when downloading something in windows 7 firefox shows the amoutn downloaded on the firefox tab on the start bar. It fills up. I don't think it was in FF3, pretty cool and useful.
Ok for anyone wondering about this, cause it was annoying the crap out of me and keeping me from using 4.0, how to kill it from previewing all your tabs when you highlight it in the taskbar. Takes like 10 seconds to disable it, all I need now is for one of the flash downloader plugins to get updated to 4.0

Pretty nice, noticeably faster. So far, my only gripe is that I can no longer auto-hide my taskbar. It seems that with the beta, the taskbar stays hidden once it pops out of view. I have to hit the start menu button to recall it.
So how's the memory issues? Does FF4 get sluggish and laggy if you open up/close too many windows and just leave it running for a bit? Like.. my Firefox will get sorda sluggish after I watch a few youtube videos/look through the Random Image thread, then go back to watch another Youtube video. It may get skippy/laggy a bit, and that's pissed me off as of late.
So far, I haven't noticed any slowdown and I generally have about 10+ tabs open all the time when I'm on my computer. It is using almost 1 GB of memory at the moment though. >.>
In the previous version, I was having a weird problem where it would randomly freeze, and I wouldn't be able to scroll or go to any other tabs, but it hasn't done that once since I switched to this version.
Ahh. Well for me, at times if I've had it open for a while, Youtube videos get a bit clippy. Know what I mean? I mean.. on my system (3.25GB RAM (XP SP3), X3 720 @3.2GHz OC'd, HD4850 Video card, etc).. I should have zero problems, yet it persists. Dunno if I've got a virus or something, though I doubt it as I"ve run scanners.
I don't really watch a lot of Youtube videos, so, I've never encountered that problem. x.x
Bah. Oh well. I may try out FF4 sometime.
Thank you. That was bothering me also.
I didn't like tabs on top much, but switching that back was easy.
I like that I can remove the menu bar, but it doesn't increase the viewing area at all. Now there's just that much extra space between the bottom of the page and the task bar.
I was just getting ready to post about trying out webM videos with Firefox 4, might be something you want to try and see if the lack of flash helps out at all.
With that said, for anyone who wants to try watching a webM-encoded video, follow this: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/201...n-youtube.html
First you'll need to turn on the HTML5 beta within youtube, found here then append &webm=1 to your youtube search url to find compatible videos.
Nah, I actually meant with Firefox 3.6.x that I still use. I haven't downloaded/tried FF4 as of yet, though I was wondering if it's really that much faster than Firefox and maybe less sluggish.
Is there touch input panel support yet? (i.e. touching input entry fields brings up the keyboard, like in any other part of windows, with the TIP enabled)
Khamsin, my inquiry came first.![]()
