Firefox 4 beta is out

So no one else on OSX is getting an assload of beachball issues during general browsing?

I've had three crashes so far, and about one beachball nonsense every other hour. Shit was annoying in FF3, and it seems worse in FF4. Tempted to just run safe-mode, start a new profile, and see if a clean slate helps, although I doubt it given the only two extensions I even have running are ad-block+/noscript.

The beta doesn't replace v3, you still have both on your PC. Any shortcuts you have will still be for v3. Also, any shortcuts you make for beta will have the exact same icon, so make sure you're using the right one.

I have sep shortcuts for the two and I even tried going to my firefox 4.0 beta folder in program files and opening it from there, still get v3

thats strange, because when i try to open v3, via shortcuts or start menu, it always opens v4b1

it's fickle and weird like that, if you have 3 open and try to open 4, it wont work. same goes to the reverse. close all windows and if it still happens, then it's still loaded in memory somewhere. closing it from the taskmgr should do the trick, or else a restart of the computer

Beta 3 is out now, adds multitouch support in Windows 7 and improved javascript.

Been using 4 pretty much full time now, only issue I've had is that my bank's website doesn't support it. Found a trick for keeping addons from getting killed as well, especially since Beta 3 isn't supported by Adblock yet.

You can disable compatability checking by going to about:config in firefox and creating a boolean value called extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0b with a value set to false

Thanks for the work-around, no Ad-Block has been bugging me the past week.

Anyways, I'm still pissed that it's been three beta revisions now and Flash on OSX is still broken on a lot of sites as far as keyboard-input goes, and I can't find a means of having it go back to the old uncontained setup for it.

Granted alot of it is my computer just sitting here, but going on 5-6 hours since Firefox was opened with 6+ tabs at all times and it's at 200k memory.

I notice in 4.03 it causes my hard drive to sound like its trying to wright or save data every page I open too, I think I'll sit on 3 until this is fixed <.< I have a feeling that if I kept going to as many websites and refresh pages and what not as often as I did, I'd have a dead hard drive in the morning.

In tihis most recent patch, did they switch 'Open in new tab' and 'Open in new window' in the right-click menu? I keep opening stuff in new window on reflex. Must have happened... or I'm going nuts.

I noticed today every link I click is opening a whole new window as well. I made sure it was setup in options to open in a new tab but yah.. not happening and it's kind of annoying.

They did. I was hitting new window as well and am just now getting use to the new position.
