Goldeneye and the first one with Daniel Craig have been the only good ones for years now. I would like to see a Nolan Bond movie though.

You win this time, Matt Damon!
Brosnan is what piqued my interest in the Bond movies, since I used to watch reruns of Remmington Steele back in the day. Goldeneye was fantastic and Tomorrow Never Dies was good, but both The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day were just really bad, uninteresting movies. Bond stories need to be interesting as well as entertaining, and those two movies were completely the opposite.
I don't think I dislike any Bond actor, as I think about it, though I will freely admit that I haven't seen nearly enough of past Bonds as I do the newer ones. I do wish they'd bring back John Cleese as Q though. If they can keep Judi Dench...
Q doesnt really mesh too much with this Bond as the tech is nothing too fancy and Mathis has served Q's function by and large in both movies. Cleese in particular w/ his Fawlty Towers/Python pedigree made things a bit too slapstick, if they bring him back as Q it would have to be a small bit at the end of this trilogy in order to just bring things full circle in the same way Solace's end had Craig assume the detached manner of Bond.
Sorry I'm a page behind but when I said I didn't remember the intro to TLD I was referring to the movie not the book. Agreed on the thoughts on Dalton, I find him to be a fantastic Bond. Fucking shame we didn't get to see him in more films.
EDIT: Since I got caught up on the rest of the posts I figured I'd chime in on everyone ranking the Bonds. Here's my take: I feel that each Bond has really hit on certain aspects of Bond's personality but none have completely captured Fleming's Bond in his entirety(probably too big of shoes for anyone to fill).
I feel Connery is the best overall Bond, not really excelling at any aspect but being the most balanced. Shit, Fleming was so impressed with Connery that he added a Scottish lineage to Bond in OHMSS as an homage. His films were also the closest to the novels(save for Casino Royale I suppose).
I can't decide if I like Lazenby because OHMSS is my favorite book or if it's because of his portrayal. The romantic stuff in OHMSS was great but he didn't have very good chemistry with Diana Rigg. Before he became Bond his only previous acting experience was in commercials, he was a model before he took the role.
Moore is easily my least favorite but it's partly due to the fault of his films being very campy. He really nailed the playboy attitude of Bond I guess but there was way too much humor in his portrayal for me to really enjoy it.
Dalton was a huge Fleming Bond fan, and even turned down taking over the role when Connery left(can you imagine OHMSS with Dalton? *dreams*) but he felt he was too young to take over. He was courted by MGM for years to take up the role during Moore's run and kept turning it down because he didn't like all the campy shit they were doing with Fleming's character. When he finally accepted he was constantly referencing the novels as a basis for his potrayal. The only reason he stepped down was because there was a huge lawsuit that put the Bond movies on the shelf for years until Goldeneye.
Brosnan holds a special place in my heart because he was the first Bond I ever saw on screen. Goldeneye on N64 is what got me into Bond in the first place so I was always interested in seeing the film. While he had some gritty moments I feel he falls more into the Roger Moore playboy Bond category as well. I did really like the opening scenes in Die Another Day when he was a POW and escapes MI6 even though the rest of the film was an abortion(and oddly similar to the DAF film).
I don't know if Craig is a fan of the Fleming novels but he has a very dark portrayal of the character much like Dalton had. I have a feeling it's just due to nature of his previous roles though. His acting through the betrayal and heartbreak in Casino Royale was far better than Lazenby's acting in OHMSS although I wonder if that's because there was much better chemistry between Green and Craig than Lazenby and Rigg.
Wow, wall of fucking text. O_o
Yeah hence why its okay to bring Q back without overtly resorting into turning shit into Moore/Brosnan bond.
What the fuck is this?
I mean, did he even read through it once? Typo's out the fucking ass.But Damon's comments about Bond raise that contemporary question: Why spy series is better? Bond has been around forever, but in terms of films that hold a candle to the Bourne trilogy? There might be six or seven 007 movies as good as ony of the three Jason Bourne flicks. Maybe. But I think Casino Royale is probably as good as either Identity or Supremacy.
Also, Connery>All, and then Goldeneye
Good news finally, Bond has a release date and Craig is back:

Good! I didn't read the original books so I have to know how this shit ends! Plus Craig is a very good bond.
title change is in order!
Thank you jesus!
Finally.
So long as the next movie doesn't hit the levels of cheese present in Die Another Day, Craig will surpass Brosnan in my Bond tiers.
Casino Royale was pretty awesome, but Golden Eye was badass too. I'm glad they got their shit together and Bond's back.
meh, Casino Royale was awesome, but it lost some of the cheeky flare from the Conery/Brosnan films that I really liked and I'm not 100% with that
Honestly Craig is my #2 Bond after Dalton. (not counting Connery since hes an OG) And Quantum was the most underrated Bond movie since Living Daylights (also; the most poignant for current events since.)
edit: Goldeneye was ok everyone just has nostalgia goggles since he was our generations first Bond and we all grew up playing the N64 game. Tomorrow Never Dies was probably 5-10 years ahead of its time (it's aged remarkably better than any Bond though imo with regards to plot, villain and gadgets). But overall, Brosnan while a decent Bond, got stuck with absolutely shit movies. The only good things about TWINE/DAD was John Cleese as the new Q, and their shittiness destroyed anything good Goldeneye/TND had created.
I watched Goldeneye again recently, and I think you're right. Most of the Bond films I've seen were Roger Moore ones because that's who my dad likes (prolly grew up when they came out). The movie is still pretty good, but its definitely not SO GREAT like I used to think. The great game tie in really helped I think.
