Asus G73jh pulled from BestBuy?

So today I was doing my usual window shopping at Best Buy and started looking for the laptop I've been drooling over the past two months, the Asus G73jh. I could not find it to do my usual drooling and admiring so I asked a manager if they had any in stock as most places were out. He then explained to me that there were not any in stock because they had pulled them off the shelves due to it being an older version. He said around the end of this month/beginning of next month Best Buy would be stocking up with a bit heavier version for the school year which will be around the same price.

I, of course, wanted to see if this guy was yanking my chain so I started looking around for some news of this and I could not find anything. Both Asus models on Best Buy's website are still up but the $1600 one that you can only find online has dropped to $1430. Has anyone heard anything about this? Maybe Best Buy will start stocking the A1 or A2 version of this laptop? Or am I getting the ole "I don't really know anything so I'm going to spew bullshit to sound good"?

I don't know myself but I'm curious as well. I checked online to see availability around my areas. Usually it was available in all areas around me but now i'm seeing only 2 stores have it in stock. I'm mainly looking at the $1200 version btw but kinda worried now since that was my goal for XIV and im not sure if i can find another deal like that D;

I wouldn't doubt it. The previous version of that laptop was on the shelves for all of 2-ish months right when Win7 came out. This one has been out for 6-ish months now, the next revision ought to be out any time now...

Well, the $1600 one is not a "Outlet Item"

The cheaper model, is available at every bestbuy near me according to their website.

As being a proud owner of the A2 version (no bluray, 1TB, 8GB ram, backpack and very nice gaming mouse with variable DPI. I really wanted the 1920x1080) it runs super quiet and really darn cool. Plus it saves me a bunch of electricity vs my 3 year old desktop with dual monitor setup. I think there's a youtube video with a review concerning temps. and on the I and O keys it runs the hottest @ idle 30 degrees C. But it is a brick. 8 lbs with the battery, and you're better off just plugging it into a wall at that point.

The one they have for $1600 is actually a stripped down version of the A1, A2, and X3 models. It only has 1600x900 resolution, I believe smaller hard drives, and less Ram. If you're going to order one for that price then you would be better off with the A1 or A2

I heard that the best buy was a cut down version, i would assume they are now bringing it now up to scratch. I bought a G73jh-A1 2 days ago and this is an amazing laptop, my only want would be that it had a hardware raid controller. 8Gb 1333, i7 1.6Gb (with Asus turbo charge boosts this by a further 10%), 5870 1Gb DDR5, and 2x 500gb 7,200rpm, and blueray its REALLY nice.

Yeah the $1600 one at BB was a rip. Probably why they knocked it down to $1430. However, that $1200 was damn sexy if you didn't want all the bells and whistles that come from the A1 or A2. And that technology looks great. Just hope it isn't expensive as hell. I can keep my disk space usage down to pretty low amounts but $$$ is the problem. Thanks for posting Kajii.

I just noticed the same thing... $1199.99 to $1249.99 but I cannot for the life of me figure out what they changed. Need to see some deeper specs than what BB is showing on the site to really be able to tell. Now it's telling me the Hulen BB in Fort Worth (the same one I got the original info from) has this one in stock @ $1250. Might have to make a trip or something.

Agreed. I have like 100gb of games on my laptops steam and as hard as I try I can't tame it at work.

I work at a Best Buy and we still have a few. I just wouldn't buy a laptop with an i7 if my life depended on it. Hyperthreading is not worth the clock speed loss IMO, i5 in laptops ftw.
