    Dragon Age 2 PC DRM Detailed

    BioWare has once again broached the eternally contentious issue of DRM with a forum post by community coordinator Chris Priestly revealing the particulars of the system it'll be using for the PC edition of its fantasy RPG Dragon Age 2.

    The Steam edition will use only Steam for DRM. However, as EA did not start selling Dragon Age 2 through Steam until after it had stopped offering a free upgrade to the bonus-packed 'BioWare Signature Edition,' even Steam aficionados might have gone for a retail copy.

    DRM on the retail edition is a different affair, with a combination of two different systems. 'Release Control' will be used to ensure that should you receive a copy before the game officially launches in your territory, you won't be allowed to play it until the powers that be say so. Release Control will remove itself once the game has launched.

    The other, more persistent layer of DRM on retail copies has no disc check and does not limit the number of PCs you can install the game on. After verifying ownership by logging into your EA account when installing, you'll be able to play the game on five different PCs within any given 24-hour period. While you can play offline, it'll periodically require you be online for a login check, at yet-undecided intervals.

    Dragon Age 2 launches for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 8.

    Dragon Age 2 demo available Feb. 22, includes free weapon for full game
    You might have heard about a Dragon Age 2 demo somehow. BioWare officially announced the existence of said demo for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, with a launch date starting February 22. Specific dates for specific platforms weren't mentioned, but we can assume that it'll hit PSN on that date, because it's a Tuesday.

    Players will get the opportunity to choose one of three character classes and explore the new location of Kirkwall for the first time, where they will meet Isabela, one of the new love interests for Hawke. They'll also get to meet Hayder's Razor, a dwarven blade that boosts health, mana and "combat abilities." This blade is the demo's parting gift to you, usable in the full game.

    http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/07/dragon-age-2-anders/

    With Dragon Age 2 a mere month away, BioWare has highlighted another member of the RPG sequel's multi-talented cast. The illicit and easily irritable mage, Anders, returns from a brief stint as Grey Warden in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening, and finagles his way into Dragon Age 2's plot and the quest of its new protagonist, Hawke.

    According to Game Informer, you'll encounter Anders in the slums of Kirkwall, where he's traded pithiness for pity long enough to heal injured Blight refugees. Anders' motivations are unclear, but his mastery of magic should make him a valuable party member -- especially after you trade him in to the chantry for a healthy reward, we imagine.
    I didn't buy Awakening but was this guy any significance in it?

    He was a recruitable character.
    Spoiler: show
    He isn't with the Circle/hates the Circle. He takes the grey warden joining thing and survives. At the end he ends up leaving the Grey Wardensand is labeled as an Apostate by the chantry.

    Isn't DA2 supposed to be a few hundred years in the future?
    Guess he had some immortality thing going on.
    also;
    Spoiler: show
    wasn't the darkspawn blood supposed to make grey wardens go crazy and then begin to change into full darkspawn after a long enough time?

    DA2 spans 10 years time so you will likely meet him at Kirkwall sometime early.

    I wasn't a huge fan of Awakening, but he was definitely one of my favorite things in it. Glad to see he's back.

    Darkspawn blood doesn't change grey wardens into darkspawn eventually, it just kills them. They can sense their death coming, and head into the Deep Roads to fight until they die.

    Anders isn't a grey warden either, he just joins the grey warden.

    pretty sure there was a decision to be made somewhere that he either do the joining ritual or be arrested.

    DA wikia says that's the case as well.

    He is a grey warden. In fact all of the party members in Awakening are if they join your party, from what I remember. He actually ends up enjoying his decision as he can actually do something to stop the evil. Well, him and his cat. Ser Pounce-a-lot.

    Anders was awesome and he does join the Grey Wardens unless you made the choice not to do the joining with him. After the final battle he leaves the wardens but eventually returns and remains with them it was said. So you probably meet him during his time away I would guess.

    well, I haven't played Awakening yet, so I didn't know they forced you to do the Ritual in that one tbh. I've yet to complete DA1, I've been playing through it in preparation for DA2 <.<;
