I never had that problem, I quite like the battle system, but it took a while to get used to it. But once you do, it feels good (man). Interested to see this new direction of combat.

NO TOOLSET, no mods basically, and no aerial view.

I have lost all interest in this game.

First post on your first link has a conversation with the developer that was linked that says they are working on aerial view for cpu users(though it was probably edited in after you posted this).

Yeah, IDK what they're thinking with the exclusion of those features.

No mob respawn still? I never finished the first one because I couldn't do whatever I wanted and max out my character(s) and I wasn't interested in starting from scratch to play with other spells/abilities. The only game I have enjoyed playing that focused on starting over repeatedly to reveal story was Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter. At least you maintained some strength/items and it got easier and easier to do so. Having different intros and gay elf sex didn't draw me in.

You CAN have gay elf sex though, and I think that's important.

This might be the first time I've seen someone dislike a game because it has no grindan.

If you want grindan, play a JRPG.

I always find it to be a laugh riot with the people on the Bioware forums. I mean you talk about people you can NEVER please. They're complaining about the devs giving Quanari horns. They never said they DIDN'T have them in the first game. Good fucking grief. For BW games, I'll always PC version so won't have to worry about the tactic view and all that other stuff. Would never attempt to play this on a console, but they're lucky to be able to play the game at all. Sad thing is, as great as every Bioware game is, console players will never experience Baldur's Gate or NWN. Those shitty 3rd person hack n slash don't count either.

I for one welcome any changes with open arms. Usually Bioware has a solid reason for changing something up in games. Mass Effect 2 was the perfect example with dumping the inventory system. 99% useless. Then the Mako, and other little changes all over. I expect DA2 to have more little changes than anything else.

I also like that the protaganist is fully voiced like Commander Shepard. Puts you more into the game, I think. Or as BW says "Emotionally engaged" whatever they want to call it, it works. After a while in ME2, you don't want any of em to die on you. I could see how it's the same way with DA2.

My only complaint is the lack of modding tools, it's pretty dumb to exclude them. The view thing didn't bother me much, since I mostly played from the perspective they're restricting us to now.

Hopefully they'll change their minds about modding, as vanilla DA was decent, but modded it was a lot better.

from the link it sounds like they're looking to update the DA1 toolset, not make a new one, so i think the no toolset is a misnomer

Long as DA2 is able to be modded I'll change my mind about it. I just want mods to help the experience, like in DA.

The part at the end of the link's post is a new edit, but reading it just now it is as you say, which is a relief.

From the new edits it seems the top down view is still going to be there on PC and that they're going to just update the toolset because it's not vastly different than DA:O's toolset. The BW forums like to freak the fuck out over any little thing though. It is fun to read David Gaider get his panties in a bunch about any criticism he receives though. My favorite post on a forum ever was him defending Alistair to the people who didn't like him. He went on a huge rant about how great he is and how everyone is conditioned to like idiotic heroes. It was gold.

I worry that it will affect the replayability with the main character being so fully fleshed out and pre-determined. I also liked how the origin/race/sex aspects would come forth while playing (though this aspect could have been bought out a bit more had they wanted to), and feel that unless your good/evil decisions have major story impact, you are looking at another strike against replayability.
