For Herbalist's Tasks in act II, do you need to do Merrill's companionship quest to get the last ingredient? She keeps swinging between friend and rival, so I haven't gotten anywhere with it yet. And I doubt I'll get the quest in the next act, so am I screwed here?

Yeah, 3 quests you have to keep up on are the Bone Pit quests, Merill's quests and Isabell's. the 3 1/1 ingrediants are found in the last leg of their quests, but, I'm fairly sure rivalry/friendship does not affect companion quests I do not believe. I'm pretty sure Fenris was more rival than friend when I flagged his 2nd act quest, and I guarantee his was my rival by his 3rd act.

well, idk about Isabell's quest having a Herbalist Task ingrediant, or Merill's for that matter. You need to do Isabell's for Ambrosia, but that's not an Herbalist Task quest item, thats for crafting material.

I can probably remember where all the Herbalist Task ingredients are, but I'm just wondering if that's all your looking for.

and as for good daggers, The Offhand Blade is great if you built an Assassin rogue. 35physical dmg, +65atkm +4%crit chance, +9% crit dmg, +4 fire damage.

Only one last trophy to go... Supplier... Which I'll have to play the entire game over for again...

I have to do another game too for Supplier thanks to Fenris' personal quest in Bone Pit not showing up. Did everything I could in the last few missions for the act, thought I caught a lucky break when I found his gift item, but that still wasn't enough for it.

who's responsible for trophies/achievements btw? Just out of curiosity. I'd love to have similar trophies to Mass Effect. All of Dragon Age (1 & 2) were not challenging at all. Just need to put in assloads of time, with a mandatory 2+ playthrough.

Would anyone call me crazy if I said I loved DA:O still after beating 2? Some quick post impressions below:

    Spoiler: show
Just something about the storyline and depth of the game that really didn't sit well with me after beating it. Especially the way it ended, it had me thinking "oh great, now we are caught up in current time!!" - *credits*

Great game though, I loved what battle system. I just wish there was a lot more freedom than Kirkwall, Sundermount, generic side quest area 3. The beginning also lead me to believe there would be a huge darkspawn involvement but I mostly remember murdering humans a LOT. I know they fled to Kirkwall to get away from the darkspawn but seriously this is dragon age, everything is about the darkspawn FFS. There is a good variety of enemies but there is no arguing that 80% of what you killed in DA II are (or were) humans. Also that tease in the GI interview, they mentioned Morrigan having a big role in this game.. more b/s. I enjoyed the game but those were the few gripes I had. I have yet to check out the other armor sets but please tell me there is more to DA II than the champion set? :/

I'll agree with the majority of what you said, however I'm trying to figure out why you think everything in Dragon Age must focus on Darkspawn "ffs".
There are 2 Dragon Age games. There was 1 game that focused on darkspawn (more on the archdemon technically), and 1 that didn't.

There are only 2 more Archdemons remaining, and it's not like they are the only interesting things in the game's lore. DA2 just didn't seem to capitalize on any of them for some reason.
Plus it'd be hard to involve another archdemon and still have your save file from a previous game affect anything, given that it's usually a few hundred years before the next one shows up.

Well, since the last mission is triggered in the Gallows and i had a couple of things left to do there, I wasn't able to finish them, which was highly irritating. No way to stop the last series of events if you zone in there.

I'll give this game like a 6.5/10. I was on PS3 and seen quite a bit of graphical tearing, which was a put-off. Like everyone said about the lack of diversity in the areas applies also. The quests could of used some work, they all felt the same. Doing another run-through as a mage, which isn't my element at all in any rpg game, but I can already tell this shit is super powerful.

Quick plot question (Act 1 Spoilers, trying not to scan 40+ pages for the answer)

    Spoiler: show
What is the deal with the witch of the wilds? I was under the assumption this game was set (the beginning of it anyway) around the middle of DA:O, but both versions of the witch looks insanely different. I hope its not being considered as "Hur dur shes a witch she can look however she wants". What was the point of going to the dalish with the amulet and releasing her? She was obviously outside of it already since she helped in your escape. I thought that part of the story was...very forced and didn't make much sense to me.

don't worry, it didn't make any sense.
    Spoiler: show
Flemeth's 1st appearance in DA2 would have been after she saved the Warden at Ostagar, but before you see her again for Morrigan's companion quest, so she would have had to change into her new appearance, then back into her older appearance, then back again into her new appearance.
As for how she was inside the amulet, I assume she just used magic to put a part of her inside the amulet because she was assuming she was going to get killed by Morrigan. Why you had to go to the Dalish and release her, she hints at the fact that someone/thing was watching her and she was unable to move freely. No other mention of Flemeth or what could possibly be a danger to her is made in the game, however there were a few hints (both made by Sandel) of some super crazy magic shit going down soon, and an old lady with a crazy laugh staring at Sandel as he lays in bed.

    as for Sandal...
    Spoiler: show
I'm actually starting to think Sandal will be playing a bigger role in DA3 as well, or at least in future dlc. 3 times now he's killed a large group of Darkspawn and/or demons by himself. 1 time included at least an Ogre, and another a Pride demon. He's a beast.
Perhaps Flemeth will try to take over Sandal...

Ever see Harry potter where voldemort can't die because he has a bunch of horcruxes? Same shit. In DA:O Morrigan has you kill Flemeth later on in the story. Flemeth knew this beforehand so she gave Hawke the amulet so she can be revived later. I'm assuming her appearance in DA2 was her true look, and the ragged look in DA:O was just to fool the warden/Morrigan.

Fair enough. I guess I can buy that. Also Souj, I'm on that Sandal boat also. If anything, they are lining it up for something with him.

    Act 3 junk
    Spoiler: show
Really upset on how they railroad the 'Anders blowing up the Chantry' story. With his specific quest in act 3, you learn he lies to you about the purpose of what he's making. If it was truly up to me, I would of stopped with that shit right away (on my 'Good guy' playthrough) but no matter what you do, it still happens. Also the ending where Knight Capt and the head mage end up being both "bad" is very off-putting.

Another question. How do you become the Viscount? Apparently I completely missed that on my first playthrough. Also I missed the Xebenkeck I believe. I don't have my PS on or I would look

I say that because the darkspawn are the biggest threat in the DA universe, along with the archdemon. We really didn't get to see much of either in DA II, or Flemeth after the "smuggling". (hell they even made that DLC chapter that lets you play from a darkspawn point of view) So yeah, I think not including the darkspawn as much in the story is a huge deal and mistake on their part. I just hope the next dragon age has more of a DA:O feel and depth, but with DA II's combat for sure. I really liked that Hard/Nightmare actually feel damn near impossible difficult.

I disagree with darkspawn being "the biggest threat in the DA universe." The first game, while being ultimately about the Blight, was also heavily about the politics of Fereldan, much like the second one; except this time it's just a city and not a nation. Ending spoilers for the next part
    Spoiler: show
The fact that the Circle has been dissolved sets up the third one to have much greater implications than just the darkspawn. This leaves the door open to a grander story of the nations trying to get the mages back under control, while they toss in another blight. Seeing what leads to the third game, I find much more satisfying that just seeing it in a CS.

Agree with Taco. Just because the biggest threat in the first A was the Blight and darkspawn doesn't mean it has to be in every game.

However I may be misreading but I don't know what you mean by...

    Spoiler: show
'what led to the third one.' Do you mean the blight? Because it'd be the 6th blight overall I believe.

Typo and poor word usage on my part. I meant "what led to the third game" when I said that, not the third blight. The events that unfold with the Champion could have easily been glanced over and made into a CS, but I found the unraveling of the Circle to be compelling enough in this game that I'm glad it wasn't as such.

Hopefully that clears up what I meant.

I was under the impression that the blight was pretty much all about darkspawn/archdemon. Unless you are talking about the blight disease that spreads?

The Blight is what happens when an army of Darkspawn come to the surface, led by an Archdemon. It was what was happening in Origins.
There was no Blight in DA2, minus the prologue which happened as Lothering was being attack, so there were not many Darkspawn on the surface.
I'm still confused why you think it's a necessity to include the darkspawn and the blight, when only Origins dealt with both, and Awakening was more about what caused the Blight

and to answer Tyrath, the Blight in Origins was the 5th. Just 2 more remaining.

for DA3, I really hope it takes place in Tevinter Imperium . So much of all the bad stuff that's happened in the DA universe originated there, and some old Tevinter ruins could be pretty great.
Assuming they don't just make 3 dungeons and use them for everything.

    Like I mentioned before:

    Spoiler: show

    The main PCs disappearing...
    The circles dissolving worldwide...
    The Morrigan/Flemeth issue...
The Qunari deciding to just declare war on everyone...

are all potentially much greater issues than the darkspawn.

random question, but is there any use to the random loot with trash can icons you pick up? I know some of them trigger fetch/return quests but I have tons of other shit jamming up my inventory. Should I save it all for later or can I sell it? Still on Year 1 btw

also I'd really like to see a game that takes place in the Tevinter Imperium. The cities/architecture sound really neat.
