looks like the same battle system as the first game, but with a few tweaks to make it feel more active? I think they're still autoattacking, at least that's what it looks like. Still, looks pretty sweet

That is exactly not what I would want the game to look like. I like the first Dragon Age because it felt like the old school Bioware D&D games, and that just looks like a Fables knockoff.

My thoughts exactly. They're just trying to compete with the other popular games out there, I guess, but seeing that gameplay clip just makes me miss their old games.

That, and the fact that they pulled a Shepard on Hawke kind of disappointed me. Getting to pick your origin/race was one of the best parts of the first game!

Looks like it just the same deal but with a soundtrack as first run copies of DA1, which my box says is a $15 value!

A little late to the thread but why did they change the battle system from the old NwN style? I'm pretty disappointed. That was the thing that set it apart from so many games and why I really liked it. If I wanted this style of game I would just play Mass Effect...

Combat looks so much more fun than the first one. Awesome story + better combat will make this game so great.

I get the feeling this game will have few improvements over the original. The combat system probably won't be improved upon in favor of this new style. As far hack and slash go, this is pretty laughable. I think it is trying harder to be WoW.
