Dragon Age 2

So because of Dragon Age 2, I just got an email from Bioware giving me a free copy of Mass Effect 2 for PC.
Not sure if I'll actually play it, but maybe I will. Maybe I'll play ME1 on PC 1st. I shall see.

^ ME is totally worth playing imo. You can get ME1 for the PC via Amazon for like 13 bucks. Do it!

Well, guess I should clarify that I've already played through and beaten ME2 for ps3, which is why I might not play it for pc. But a free game's a free game.

Yeah, I just got that e-mail too. Free games ftw. I'm still playing ME1 though, and honestly I like playing it on the 360 better than the PC (call me crazy) so... I dunno.

Seems more like they're trying to distract from the wasted potential of DA2. Or trying to drum up DLC sales. One of the two.

this is actually pretty cool for me... I didnt get into these games until a couple months ago. Picked up DAO and loved it, disappointed by DA2 but was about to give ME/ME2 a try.

Any suggestions if I should play ME before ME2? or will it matter?

It helps but you really don't need to play ME1, unless you don't know what's going on. You can download saves here to use in ME2 http://www.masseffectsaves.com/ if you're talking about PC.

IMO, play ME1 before 2 if feasible (IE, you have more than a PS3 to play on). Unlike the Dragon Age games, they actually tie together pretty well, though some of the mechanics are adjusted between the two. Plus, ME1 is still a good game. No real reason to skip over it.

I honestly dont think I would have liked ME1 had I not played ME2 first. I didn't really enjoy the game play nearly as much, and played through 1 just for the story and to get a save that went from 1->2.

i was the opposite, i liked me1 better, but eventually got into 2 after forcing myself to play it for hours, looking forward to me3 just for the story

Yeah, that seems like an odd phrasing. The most loyal Bioware fans, almost by definition, probably have all four games. Maybe the "most loyal Dragon Age fans"?

It seems to me that if they had offered a copy of ME1 with DA2, that might have worked better. I'm sure there are people that don't generally enjoy space opera who might give it a shot if they got a free copy. I would think that people are less likely to pick up a game in the middle of a series, but if they can start from the beginning for free, why not? I know that if I hadn't played ME1 on my brother's Xbox 360, I wouldn't have bought ME2 when it came out for the PS3.

But I'm in management, not marketing. What do I know?

Play ME1 first. That way you get the best out the way first and you ride the high all the way through 2 and its run and gun style.

So after I got the email yesterday telling me that because I own DA2 I get rewarded with a free copy of ME2, I get an email today saying that if I buy DA2, I'll get ME2 free lol

I bought ME2 after playing DA:O, for like $9.99. Liked ME2 enough, for a shooter. Tried to play ME1 after, and couldn't play it. A lot of things seemed annoying to me. If you want to get the full experience, I'd recommend 1 before 2. My friends have told me you notice a lot of stuff that depended on your decisions from ME1.

By no means am I saying ME2 is superior, simply that they made small changes from 1 - 2 as they did from DA to DA2. And little things that they "fixed" were too annoying to me once I tried to backtrack. Which is sad, cause I was really interested in the story too

Btw in case anyone was wondering the description for Rune of Valiance says you can only use one, but that means 1 on all your armor *combined*. You can't use 1 on your armor and 1 on your helmet for example, likewise you can't give aveline 1 on her armor and 1 on her shield, you can actually set as many of that rune as you want but you'll only get 1 set of stat boosts.
