Decided to start my 2nd playthrough the other week and finished plat'ing the game last night. Really is one of the easier games to plat if you got the black emporium. I sided w/ the Templar's my first playthrough and the final events leading up to the last battle w/Meridith (the stuff involving Orisino, storming the circle, ect..) makes so much more sense siding w/ the templars.
I mean.. when you side w/ the mages Orisino turns into an abomination and atks you? really.. wtf. Least when you side w/ the Templar's you storm the Circle... and then when Orisino is surrounded you and Meredith fight against Orisino.
On a side note. I was sad they fixed the xp/ability glitch.. should have started my 2nd playthrough earlier. And not using runes my first playthrough was such a mistake. they make so much stuff so much easier.. especially the final OP runes
I still need to play through the game again for my single trophy I missed... The one that requires you find all the materials
Black Emporium will help out on stuff you missed. First playthrough I didn't have enough friend/rivalry status w/ Fenris to get his final companion quest.. and I missed like 2 other's in earlier chapters, yet I still got the achievement since Black Emporium had all i was missing and some extra.
Odd thing was that I didn't get Fenris's final companion quest in my 2nd playthrough and I did all his earlier quests and had him max rivarly.
I missed 3 ingredients in my 2nd playthrough and the black emporium didn't sell them when I checked. I think the theory was that black emporium only sells ingredients from the previous act, but I'm not sure I want to risk that
Been thinking about finishing my platinum on this one. Did they ever patch the freezing issues?

I'm about 7 hours in. Is there a reason why most of the armor in shops is restricted to Hawke? Half my party is naked because I can't buy shit for them.
Also, when it comes to armor choices should I be going with +atk or +crit chance/dmg?
I find +atk pretty useless, all it is is hit%. And its odd because all "mage" champion armor has is tons of fucking atk.. made me pretty sad that rogue champion set was done so well and they shat all over mage champion armor. +dmg% is nice as a starter stat, but as you got higher I found hp/stam/mana stuff to be more important. +dmg% doesn't do that much since your characters aren't hitting for that much dmg to begin w/... crit/crit dmg, and pure stats are better imo.
And ya, you can only change party members accessories and "most" of their weapons. I know a lot of ppl didn't like that, but w/ how slow the menu is and how crappy the "drop" armor stuff looks, I welcomed that change, especially since it meant I had to spend less time in the menu screen
Aye, thanks. Wonder why this game got shitted on as much as it did, I'm enjoying it so far.
Depends entirely how you build your group and character, Katlan. +damage% is nice when doing 35000 damage assassinates![]()
While I was disappointed with DA2, I still enjoyed it for what it was. It got shit on because people were rating it based on what they wanted/expected it to be instead of rating it objectively.
With that said, after replaying it 3 times (once for each class) I haven't touched it since and have actually gone back and played DAO a few more times. DA2 just doesnt seem to have any replayability past 2 or 3 playthroughs.
You can see where they cut huge corners in making DA2. It could be because of time and wanting to push the game out sooner, or just a lower development budget, but you will realize them as you play fren. Caves.. not a big deal right? Nobody really cares about caves since they aren't a "main" visiting point in games. in DA2, you visit the same cave like 50x.. only different is what door is open. It may not make sense when you first start the game, but all the caves / houses / any indoor area will have the same architecture and there will be slabs in front of doors. At later parts of the game those slabs are removed. Only difference in any indoor area.
Main gripe is that what you see in Act 1 is all there is too basically see in the game (scenery / area wise). All you do is visit the same places over and over again.. and multiple times each act for that matter.
I still enjoyed the game enough to care about plat'ing it, but if they spent more time on the above stuff the game would be much much better
Even objectively there were plenty of things to critique (lack of environments for example). That aside, a certain level of expectations were warranted given that it was a sequel. It's not unfair to judge it in comparison to the first game, where it was almost entirely a step down.
Depends, most critic reviews were too kind, if anything. Overly critical user reviews are likely a response to that...just like overly favorable user reviews tend to pop up for merely decent games that got (usually appropriate) middling reviews by critics.
I've read about people complaining about load time and this is the first I've seen complaining about menu time. Is this a common issue? I bought and played this on a (lol)Mac, and most if not all of the loading times are so quick I don't have time to fully read the tips they put on the loading screen. Menus pop up pretty much within a second of me hitting the proper button.
On a side note, I've been looking for a mod that would allow me to equip companion armor (I don't care if it shows or not, most armor looks terrible and most companion armor looks much nicer). Anyone know of one?
While I enjoyed the game, it left a lingering feeling of "thats it?" for me. It felt like it was just a little bit shy of everything I was expecting from it after DA:O. I still enjoyed it and plan to play through all the classes eventually.
