They said many times that you can play it pretty much exactly like the original, only with much more fluid and faster animations. Not sure why everyone was so worried about it playing like a shitty action RPG.

So wtf is up with game not being on steam at all for pre-order yet, not to mention no "Signature Edition", I could care less about pack in pre-order items cause they are always either useless garbage, or broken enough that I don't want to use them cause I LIKE playing balanced games. But the fuck EA isn't even going to let steam users Pre-load the game? I'm not worried about the companion cause I'm sure it be available as separate DLC in which case I can screen if I even want the guy.
There is no way in hell I'm ordering this game through EA's shitty service, that will likely charge me more money in 5 years for the "right" to play a game I own, and there is also no way in hell I'm buying a Disc.
So is this game not even going to be on steam? I can't even being to tell you how retarded it would be to have a "hardcore" RPG and not have it on the distribution network most "hardcore" gamers use.
TL;DR "EA GET YOUR THUMB OUT OF YOUR ASS AND PUT THE GOD DAMN GAME ON STEAM!"
EA is trying to sell the game through EADM(EA Download Manager) more in order to compete with steam. They said in a thread at the bioware forums that it will be on steam but not the "Signature Edition"
I've become tempted to buy it from the EA store too but...$60 PC games kind of bothers me.
65 days until release anyway.
God forbid a publisher choose to sell their game how they want to.
Indeed, I do.
Where is the surprise in my response? Where was the particular DRM ever brought up in his tirade? If I was butthurt you would see alot more out of me in these threads where the winners that roam here tend to bash EA at any given chance. Normally I just tend to ignore it or laugh and move on. But in this case it is fucking retarded. If you dont like how the game is being distributed, dont buy the god damn thing then, its pretty cut and dry. I mean, really how hard is it to understand that?
Just like the same idiots that bitch about DLC, if you dont want to pay for it dont, god damn some people are fucking retarded.
I am actually curious if you had any updated impressions from this. Them releasing how the combat works on pc made be feel better because I thought it was action on all 3 platforms.
You should all be thankful that Bioware is putting out two games this year. THEY SHALL GRACE OUR UNWORTHINESS WITH THINE HOLY PRESENCE.
That interface looks like shit.
Figured I would replay DA:O while waiting for this game to come out... this time I decided to do a nightmare solo run with an arcane warrior because I've heard so much about them. It was pretty rough initially (especially the ogre battle) but once I hit level 7 and got combat magic it got somewhat better. However the game became retardedly easy even on nightmare once I hit level 14 and got shimmering shield. I plowed through everything without any problems (crushing prison mages weren't a problem thanks to mana clash, which is also totally overpowered) and once I hit awakening and got the +4 stamina regen gloves early on in the game I was able to keep both haste and shimmering shield up at all times which just made the game even easier.
I'm really hoping in DA2 that they make the specializations/spells a little more balanced so that they help to enhance and define the character instead of some specializations/spells being worthless and having some which are totally overpowered. For example, add a penalty to specific spells when they are sustained together or incur penalties to one magic tree when several points are put in another tree (i.e. make entropy spells weaker should a person put a point into a spell in that tree if they already have a lot of points in the creation tree). I think this would help in making it more difficult to create these "uber" characters that can solo enemies like the High Dragon on nightmare with ease.
Well I caved in and bought the Signature Edition from EADM. I know steam servers get hit hard when something new or an old classic(NWN2) comes out. There are also a belt and a staff to get from the DA2 site.
From reading the bioware forums it would appear warriors do not have dual wield anymore. That's a shame really.
Cant fucking wait. Fuck haters.
Semi-related to the thread: About how long does it take to beat the Awakening expansion for DA:O?
I wasn't crazy about the original game, but friend bought the expansion for me and I'd feel bad not playing it.
