IMO, it made sense for mage characters, since the Fade plays into that class. Other classes should have had a different section to do maybe - which would also serve to spice up replays with more variety.

The fade was fun, but it went on way too long. If it had been half it's length I would've been completely okay with it.
Eh I think the fade had some of the more interesting moral choices in the game. Especially liked the room with the desire demon and that brainwashed knight.
Also gave you a choice to sleep with a demon if your into that kinda thing.....
Did I mention skip the fade gives you the attribute points you would've normally gotten going through the fade? No reason to do it more than once, especially if you're replaying for the 2nd or 3rd time.
The Fade in DA2 was perfect... it could have even been slightly longer and I would have been fine w/it. It didn't drag on and it was very to the point w/o feeling like they were trying to milk playtime out of it
Why play the game at all more than once? Fade had the same kinds of battles as the rest of the game. Are people hating it because once you start it you can't leave it until you clear it? Only thing I can think of that makes it different. Either way to each his own I suppose.
Because its boring? We understand you like it, but most ppl thought it boring and that's why it was such a small part of DA2. If most of the community liked it there wouldn't be a PC patch that allowed you to skip it. And the rest of the game, while the same, still has a different variety while the fade is all puzzles and solo fighting for most of it.
Casualzzzz
It was monotonous. I think the whole shapeshifting/teleporting thing just went on too long. It had some positives to it, but it did go on a bit too long imo.
The Fade section in #2 was a bit short but very well done.
Boring is a completely arbitrary explanation. The bolded part is all you should've said Katlan, but anyway, the rest of the points are valid opinions.
Like I said to each their own. It was a legitimate curiosity I had since to me the whole game basically plays the same.
It was a gimmick, a cute one that worked the first time but loses it's charm when repeated. The puzzles weren't so much complex, but a lot of running around and vague key pick ups (which get boring and frustrating after a while, especially with so few hints where to go or what to do). For what it was, it went on too long. It was a crisis inside a crisis, and the two can't coexist so one takes precedence, and I think that took away from the fade (cause I wanted to focus more on the Circle).
As for why play it more than once. Personally it was to try out the different classes and see some of the differences that the origins bring to the game. I'm glad I did it, cause human noble actually gives a lot more options and seems like the main route. But seeing the dwarf and elven stories was interesting and really gives a complete picture of the world and story. There's also trophies and completionist reasons to play more than once. Endings and seeing all the origins etc.
I would've done the same in DA2 if the story had a bit more variety in it, I really liked the origin aspect of DA: O.
Legacy is out today. Worth it?
The story and codex are good, but I don't think any DA DLCs have been worth it (with the possible exception of Darkspawn Chronicles). 10 dollars for about 3 hours of gameplay makes me rage, and that has been the M.O. for nearly all their DLCs so far. If you don't mind that, however, I would buy it because it was interesting story wise.
Edit: Or just watch a walkthrough which are all over Youtube at this point.
Sell your copy of the game -> wait for collector's edition to come out with all the DLC on the disk -> wait for EA to heavily discount it (DA:O collectors is $30 now) -> ??? -> profit
Or just pirate it![]()
I liked the dlc story-wise and environment-wise, but pretty much every piece of gear in it was of no use to me, I kept like a ring and the 'key' weapon (even though my current bow was better than it).
Yeah I started it and all the armors useless to me since I have the champion armor. Wish they would've just let me upgrade it instead.
