Eureka is very fluffy the first few seasons anyway. It's very episodic so you can jump right in at any point really.

Yeah you can prolly figure out the ongoing parts after seeing a few individual episodes, and they are pretty self-contained. Though I just love the series, so I'd say start from scratch, it's only 2 seasons anyway.

I was so pissed at this, I mean his comments were pretty damn funny but yeah...

New season (or 2nd half of last season, whatevs) started last week. Maybe it's just because I haven't seen Eureka since last summer or something, but it just seems kinda 'different' this season so far. Maybe it's cuz there isn't much of an active story arc atm, besides the time, and that will surface in the coming eps.

When Allison had the flat tire I would have bet my house that the girl standing there was Vivian (I think, the bad psych dr). Was totally surprised it was some other girl, and the whole sequence there was fishy, but at the end I was vindicated during the replay. That bitch is like a bad luck penny that won't gtfo of Eureka's bizniz.

I can't remember what episode I left off on. It was the arc that had the old facility from the original town, and the purple goo, and the woman that wasn't aging.

Oh I def. don't watch it for the plot. It's just a nice light-hearted nerdy comedy to kill an hour on, but I love it. But I think they've taken the robot love thing far enough >.>

If you're a Eureka fan, it's understandable if you feel a bit messed with by Syfy right now. EW.com is reporting that the cable channel has decided to end Eureka and reversed an earlier decision to order Season 6 of the show.

Last week, Deadline reported that Syfy was going to end the series, though they were going to order a truncated six-episode sixth and final season to give the producers time to wrap up the series. Syfy then put out a release saying that while they had indeed ordered those six episodes, no firm decision had been made on whether those were the final ones or not.

Now though, Syfy is not going to produce those six episodes, meaning Season 5 will be it for the show.

On one hand, this still means there's a considerable amount of Eureka left. After the episode airing this week, there are still five episodes left for Season 4 to air. Then in December is a special Christmas-themed episode, followed by the twelve Season 5 episodes in 2012 that will now serve as the end the series.

On the other hand, with production on Season 5 wrapping later this month, the Eureka writers will have much less time to craft a true ending to the series than if they'd had those six additional episodes – and fans will no doubt be upset by the "We swear we're ordering a Season 6 - maybe even more than six episodes! ...Wait we're not ordering any Season 6 episodes" back and forth.

EW has a new statement from Syfy about the fate of Eureka:

"After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a Season 6 of Eureka. But Eureka is not over yet. There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy. The 2012 episodes are some of the best we've seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end. We are very grateful to Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia, their team of incredible writers, and an amazing cast and crew who have consistently delivered a series we continue to be very proud of. We thank the fans for their support of this show and know they will enjoy its final season in 2012."
