The main reason I want bluetooth is for gps purposes, but I'll settle without it for now I guess.
There's special nav systems designed for bikes. There's one from Garmin, might be another but this is the one I'm talking about, not sure where it would mount, or where they recommend the mount.

edit: example of a mount

I know it's a longshot but I have an htc Evo, so I'm going to try to rig somtehing up myself to mount/power it, and use that instead.
So, Figured I'd bump this instead of making a new topic for no real reason. Thread inspired me after all the thought to finally get a bike. Working on purchasing this http://www.knhmotorsports.com/showca...=104121&Used=1
(Ninja 500)
I went and checked it out last week, and it is in 100% perfect condition, had 2 guys with me that know bikes in and out. Aside from the muffler scratches, and the mileage it looks like it just came off the lot.
I'm trying to talk the guy down to 2300, he's at 2400 right now but I'd like to get it a bit lower, seeing as the BB value is 1975. Just got my loan approved(part of the reason for doing this was to have a reason to take out a loan, I need a credit score, it's non-existent right about now since I'm only 18.
Gonna look into getting an HJC CL-16/SP, a jacket/pants boots and gloves. Any other pointers? I'm pretty excited. Should have the bike by next monday at the latest, wooo
Only recommendation I can make is to try and see if you can find and then afford a Carbon Fiber lid. They really are so much lighter and it takes a lot of stress off your neck. Shop around and try on the HJCs, if you like them you can go to a place like motorcyclesuperstore.com and see if they still have the carbon fiber hjcs on sale.
Joe Rocket helmets are also manufactured by HJC so they are essentially the same helmets with different branding and in some cases slightly different styles. But the shells and parts are the same.
My friend got one of the Joe Rocket carbon fiber helmets, and I absolutely abhor it. The ventilation isn't exceptional, it fogs up, and you can't just snap down the visor real quick, you have to make sure it seals properly. I love my Scorpion EXO-400, and EXO-1000. The weight of the helmet isn't that big a deal, since the way they're balanced you barely even feel it. The EXO-400 is cheap, and a great helmet.
Practice in a parking lot for a couple days to reallyh nail down your turning at low speeds and go slow for a while on the streets. Build of confidence in your riding, too little and too much confidence are both dangerous things. Have fun with it, it is an enjoyable experience if you leave the vanity behind.
The RTK101-Carbon I got is actually really good. The visor seals tightly and I haven't noticed any fogging yet. I guess depends on the type. I only recommend the Carbon Fiber because most companies are actually releasing more carbon products, especially this year and there are a lot of good deals to be had, especially on online stores.
Yeah the RTK 101-Carbon is what my friend got actually. I've noticed that when I'm getting on to the freeway with it, I'll snap down the visor real fast, and it won't be in full contact with the gasket it has. Don't even notice it until looking over my shoulder, when it whistles loud and blows wind directly into my eye.
bump. have had my license since january. still saving up for a bike. are the bluetooth/headset helmets shitty? would like to have it when riding alongside with girlfriend. honestly feel it's better that we'd be able to speak if necessary.
Just yell really loud.
chatting while riding isnt a good idea imo. 99% of the times i ride it's with my gf, she knows to wait till a red light or if it's really important(aka she has to pee) she just gives me a squeeze and i'll pull over
was gonna bump this, just finished my MSF, 3 days of fucking torture, was sooo long. I'll have my license tuesday though, have my bike already so woopty! Now just to get as much of the season as I can before i go off to school.
meant riding while we're both on seperate bikes. i suppose it's just a want. not worth if it they're not approved. would be nice though . congrats furt. what you got?
mv agusta.. sexy dream.
Learn sign language! Seriously. That's what I do for most rides with my buddies. We'll have some basic sign language and accepted group ride signals down, and we're good to go.
i would say it would be easier to go with the 2-way attachments. i have a friend with with an Oneal helm. he says its "ok...".
none of the local shops around my area carry any bluetooth/2way helms so i can't try it on for the feel. its dot/ece but its not snell approved.
like meat said, its not good and best to wait for stop lights. if its important. take the front and pull over. Its bad enough living in socal surrounded by azn drivers :X As much as i'd also like the to chat while riding, its asking to get hit.
Revzilla.com has a selection of bluetooth helmets. I've been getting them in my email but I don't have any left. You can check their website but like I mentioned before your best bet would be an aftermarket accessory to a better brand of helmet.
