Looking to upgrade PC... for FFXIV

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955
Memory: 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333
Hard Drive: 500GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 7200RPM HDD
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 1GB PCI Express
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
MB: AMD 770


Not sure where to start.... i'm guessing processer and vid card but not sure which.

Going to get more ram.

start with the video card, cpu is perfectly fine unless you just want to spend money

What fishstix said, GPU probably only thing you really need to upgrade. If you really feel it necessary, you could probably OC your CPU to get more power out of it (which should be plenty for 14) without buying a new one. At most probably a new intercooler for it.

I would wait till it gets closer to release date before buying. The GTX 460 just launched and both ATI and nVidia like to stay competitive with pricing. So by that time I would expect a price cut on the 5850 and 5870. Afterall the 5830 already dropped to $199.99 (launched at $239.99) and the 5770 can be had as low as $115.00 (launched at $199.99). The 5850 ($299.99) and 5870 ($399.99) haven't seen any price cuts, their time is coming.
